So let’s remind ourselves, how do the schools spend that money?

Content is king, Someone will pony up the cash whether it’s ESPN, cbs,Could be wrong but I do not see any media company paying a billion dollars for B1G rights.
Tend to agree with this at this point.Let’s just get to it already. Let the Big 10 and SEC pick through the remaining Big 12, PAC and ACC teams that add any value to them and leave the remaining carcasses to reconstitute another division of football.
Good article.Content is king, Someone will pony up the cash whether it’s ESPN, cbs,
Fox, apple, Amazon, Netflix, etc.
Especially with what is going on with NIL, until they can figure who will exist in the new divisions, new contracts are going to be lower.Could be wrong but I do not see any media company paying a billion dollars for B1G rights.
If the B10 is smart, they would drop Rutgers. They add nothing. Every conference needs bottom feeders, but they have a couple of traditional B10 teams filling that role. They don't need a leech like Rutgers.I said at the time of conference restructuring that Rutgers of all teams was the big winner. They have done nothing of significance ever (I repeat ever) but yet land with the one of the two BIG boys. Go figure.

But seriously, 71 million clams, what does it pay for? Are they diverting to general fund?Want ...to ...reply ...

Hookers and blow?
That is so damn ridiculuos!! # 1, the SEC is hands down the best conference by far & i doubt they were gonna get that amount but if this happens im sure it would force espn's hand. Plus & obviously the ACC better do everything possible and right at the meetings and then some. NO DIVISIONS!! BYE!, do much better with the network plus whatever other tricks they can pull out of their sleeves.Wow! 1 billion annually or 71 million/school according to the article.
RU to the BIG.WHY??? 1 reason & 1 reason only, their across the riverI said at the time of conference restructuring that Rutgers of all teams was the big winner. They have done nothing of significance ever (I repeat ever) but yet land with the one of the two BIG boys. Go figure.
Time to update the bball winning streak in your signature, Tom.Good article.
With Fox reaching an extension with the Big Ten, what happens now for ESPN and other possible rights suitors?
Fox has renewed with the Big Ten while other media companies lineup to strike their own deal. What will shake out?awfulannouncing.com
The author thinks ESPN will try and keep CBS and NBC from getting involved with the B1G period. Of course, Fox also has half the rights and could hook up one of those networks as well.
Should be interesting to watch develop.
Big 10 is boring. Waste of money...but sports is only live TV option left for advertisers.Wow! 1 billion annually or 71 million/school according to the article.
Rutgers is the remora fish of D1 athleticsI said at the time of conference restructuring that Rutgers of all teams was the big winner. They have done nothing of significance ever (I repeat ever) but yet land with the one of the two BIG boys. Go figure.
