Some might say that the BE has not handled re-alignment well, but for me, the Big XII has been the conference that seems not to know what it wants.

Forgetting last year's strange turn of events - Colorado leaving for the Pac 12 - Nebraska leaving for the Big 10 and Texas almost leaving, this year has been one new story/new development after another.

Texas and Oklahoma were gone and then were back.

Mizzou was gone - apparently back - and now gone - maybe.

The conference fires its commissioner and replaces him with a temporary commissioner who led the conference when it was the Big 8.

He announces that there will be no expansion into the State of Texas. And then the Big XII announces that TCU is joining.

Then the commissioner announces that the conference will remain at ten members.

And then it is leaked that WVU will be invited - regardless of what Mizzou does.

And then WVU will not be invited - apparently pending what Mizzou does. And then Louisville will be invited or maybe both L'ville and WVU will be invited. Now it seems that the conference fully intends to expand beyond ten teams.

Is there any real strategic planning being undertaken by the Big XII or is it just a day to day reaction to whatever?

The BE seems calm and sedate compared to the Big XII.

Bottomline: B12 has two huge flapship programs and will survive.

Bottom line II: some congressman will find the $30M necessary to lengthen the runway at Morgantown's airport so that opposing teams don't need to land 37 miles away.

and yet several BE teams are scrambling to get into the Big12 and leave the BE. What does that tell you ?

seriously, what a clusterfluck.

the BCS commish's need to handle this like the mafia. just bring the 5 heads of the families together and just hammer it out over 1 evening.

- eliminate the exit fees.
- decide whos going where
- decide whos job it is to offically kill the bigeast
- start it all up July 1, 2012

and then part ways still enemies, but with an understanding and new territories.

jeepers, i could bang this out during halftime of the LSU-Bama game next week and get it announced before the 3rd qtr kickoff.

Money is running re-alignment.
It's more than that. The BE is inherently unstable and always has been. To want to leave the BE and go to the Big12 where you will be revisiting the entire equation 6 yrs from now when UT's current concessions expire, underscores how poorly the current members of the BE view the conference.

- Send Marianatto down to the closest Popeye's to aply for a job as counter help

Thing is though, the B12 is talking about WVU, LVille, BYU, etc. The BE is talking about CFU, Navy, SMU, etc. Nobody wants those schools and they have no options.

Boise State.

boise state???

what about them??

theyre useless.

They may be useless, but their president met with the BE Commissioner yesterday.

They would help stabilize the BE and give incentive to other schools to join, including Houston and SMU.
