Boeheim on Conference Switch & Retirement

very encouraging. 'rather stay too long than leave too early'.

There was a time when I though retiring early was the greatest goal you can have. Then I saw my parents retire, and my wives parents retire.

They're both relatively happy, but it's clear that retirement is not what they had always hoped it would be.

I think staying too long is a pretty good plan, and hopefully, when the time comes, I'll be able to stay a little too long as well.

JB...disappointed not in going to ACC but in the inability for BE to work out its problems and stability with all sports and BBall schools only...and he is not leaving anytime soon...

Thanks for posting, both clips were interesting to watch. Good examples of "National Media Jimmy".

No problem, Jim is really a funny guy when he's around people he doesn't dislike. For example, when he is on PTI around tourney time, he is a blast.

All the segments are captivating to watch and listen to. While watching and listening a few things become abundantly apparent and seem irrefuteable, the likes of Jim Boeheim will never be equaled again in regard to his level of commitment to one school, one city, one program. There should be an addition to the Webster's dictionary for the word Orange. It should say, also see "Boeheim". We are incredibly fortunate to have had him as the face of the program and his contributions to the game are massive. You cannot entertain the thought of zone without conjuring the name Boeheim. As much as a curmudgeon that he can be at times, I will really be sad on the day that he decides to step down from coaching.

honestly of all my sports heroes that I grew up with, nothing will pain me more than seeing JB step down.

he is not all that tough...i think when he was talking about what it meant to him and the fans to win the title, his eyes started to get a little moist. mine still do.

SYRACUSE >miami, paris, san diego.I'm with ya Jimmy. No place i would rather be than right here in the Cuse.Syracuse is my utopia to. Must correct one thing though. The city has 137,ooo people(not 200,000). Onondaga county has almost half million people. If you include the counties bordering Onondaga,it would probably bring it to arouns1.5-2 million people.I know it doesn't matter.Like i said earlier, sometimes i think i like to see myself type, lol.

Some of the best JB stuff I've ever seen. Lots of seemingly very open and honest comments by JB. Worth watching all the segments for any SU basketball fan.

Couldn't imagine how he would reply if the local media tried to ask him half them questions.Very good stuff though.

Thanks for posting. These are great interviews. Be sure to watch all of them (about a dozen).

I think it depends on whether your job was your whole life or just a part of it. I worked hard every day but my primary reason for wokring was to have enough money to live on and do things that interested me more. Now I just do the things that interested me more.

I still visit my old colleagues form time to time. I took the bus downtown and while waiting for the bus to go home some of them stopped by on the away to the parking lot to congratulate me on my retirement. An old man sitting nearbye reacted with contempt, annoucing that I'd be dead within months. He said the was 80 and still working and that's what keeps him going. The 33 years I'd put into my work was nothing to him. That was a acouple of years ago and I'm still alive and enjoying life. He's proably still working if he's alive. I hope he's happy. He didn't look it when I talked with him. He just looked afraid of death.

I have a feeling that nothing would ever replace basketball for JB but that it's nhot his whole life and that he might enjoy being retired. It doesn't eman you do nothing. It means you do what you want to do.

That's some good stuff. Melo Center is a nice backdrop.

"I've never been happier Coaching"

I love that ... I would be too. Jimmy's playing his own video game on dynasty mode and watches his program's worth improve (as a whole) every year. He knows he real close to getting to the point where he can hand pick his recruits like Coach K does. I think he's real excited about seeing that happen and what keeps him motivated.

I Wonder how this would have worked for SU had the NATS been able to stay

i do think the acc switch might have been a good jumping off point. start a new era. for better or worse.

Thanks for posting. A great ambassodor for basketball. Glad he's our coach. IMO when it's all said and done, his legacy will be about all the work he has done for cancer. Thanks JB.

, as soon as I can afford to retire I will do exactly that... By retire I mean sell this business and do something else. Coach, golf, ride my bike across the US, all sorts of . I dont plan on sitting in a barka longer and watching my ear hair grow.
