Of course it could be worse. If we adopted the same shtty policies as Europe (like the GOP wanted) the recovery probably would've been slower.

or we can play let's pretend Obama was so successful that the candidate promising to continue his policies was defeated by the least popular presidential candidate in history.

    Can you elaborate?

I readily admit there are limitations in terms of a president's impact on the US economy but that is one area where I am 100% confident that Trump will do a better job than Obama.

Bigger Keynsian than Obama, but Bpo57 don't care. He cares about his party more than his country!

I recall Joe Biden bragging about how Iraq would be one of Obama's greatest policy achievements, and Obama bragging about how he would be known as the President who withdrew all our troops from Iraq. After he withdraws all the troops from Iraq against the council of his generals and the sheit hits the fan, then he says he was only following Bush's timeline. Just like the red line. It wasn't his red line it was the world's red line.

Keep telling yourself that. Like Obama said, his name was not on the ballot but make no mistake his legacy was at stake. Voters said see-ya!!

Regale me with tales of how europeans favor tax cuts and reduction in onerous regulations.

That's a very general statement. That's like saying Americans are for protectionalism because Trump is president.

There's a long history to all of this (well, "long" as in going back to the 1970s). One of the better examples is the collapse of the "Asian tigers" (South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia) in the late 1990s. Every country but one took the IMF package along with the austerity policies that went with it. Every country suffered through years of economic stagnation and mass unemployment except for one. Guess which one?

That's correct, it's still just the author's opinion.
