It's only December, but it's never too early for a little Bracktology. Here's the link to Joe Lunardi's projections: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology

We're the #1 seed in the east with Michigan St. as the #2. Interesting possible sound/third round matchup with Michigan(8 seed).

It's huge to note that he has Maryland in all caps meaning he thinks they will get the automatic bid. He has them as the 12th seed in the South. I don't think I've seem him give the auto bid to a team that wasn't near the top, especially this early in the season.

This is pretty funny. If you are going by what has happened so far and what the resume's actually are how is Nova not a 1 seed. Duke, MichSt, OklaSt, Lville all have at least 1 loss and are on the 2 line. Florida is a 3 seed with 2 losses. Nova has two very impressive wins while also being undefeated. I guess I just don't understand how they do these things. If its prediction then do it preseason and stay with it if not seed them as they would be should they pick the tounrney that day plus those you think will get the auto bid. Maryland would have to win the ACC tourney to make the NCAA's more than likely. I think they have 4 losses already and will certainly pick up plenty more in conference.

2 words scared stuffless if we get Dayton in round 2. Tough team and they are the kind of team that would give us fits. I was thrilled when Baylor beat them in Maui.

Okay, that's Dayton and who else should we add to the "teams I don't want to play come March" list?

It is important to note that he has Maryland as the ACC winner only because as of right now they are 1-0 in conference play, having beaten BC. That is the only ACC game that has been played so far. Since technically they are in first place in the ACC, that's who he lists as his probable (as of now) ACC champ.

That will change.

Looking at the possible 7-10 seeds I think games against Dayton, BYU, Harvard or Creighton would be a tough second round game. Not saying we wouldnt win but they certainly wouldnt be easy.

OK that makes sense but what about the seeding of the other teams? If MD gets the auto bid for sitting in first place shouldn't everyone be seeded by current resume and not say ranking or expectation.

This is all too early to take remotely seriously but what strikes me is none of these hypotheticals look like an easy route to me. None of the regions. There is so much parity ......

Is in CAPS because they are Maryland 1-0 in the ACC standings as they beat Boston College last Thrusday thus Lunardi is giving them the ACC automatic bid for now.

Villanova's resume is that of a number 1 seed right now I don't get them as a 3 seed that is Lunardi's St. Joes butthurt of Villanova affect him. I also believe we can bank on Georgetown as our 8 seed if we are a 1 seed. Their resume isn't going to be good enough for anything that much higher they don't have any good non-conference wins yet and only have Kansas left.

I don't want to play Creighton, Wichita State or Dayton. I'd take North Carolina and Arizona any day over these guys.

Michigan/Dayton as #8/9 seeds is crazy. Obviously has SU as the last #1 being given an insane draw in the 2nd round while all the other #1's get very beatable teams. But I won't lose any sleep over it. The concept of doing these brackets before February is ridiculous.

Not sure a great team will emerge this yr. ariz had a v good win against michigan but they hardly looked invincible for 35 mins. I could be wrong but I don't see any teams as good as the last two champs this season...

I'd sign up for a game against AZ in the NCAA's right now because it would mean we were in the FF or NC game.
Arizona's really good but I think we match up better against them.

Ohio State as a 1 seed just makes laugh and wish we could be in the 2nd seed if they are the 1 seed. Their resume is 8 tomato cans, a mediocre Maryland team at home, and sloppy horrible game to watch @Marquette who isn't that much better than St. John's. Without looking at Ohio State's B1G schedule I wouldn't pick them to finish in the top 4. The top 4 B1G schools IMO are Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan then maybe Ohio State 5th.

If I was doing an S-Curve
1.Wisconsin best resume by far
2. Arizona
3. Syracuse
4. Villanova
5. Louisville
6. Michigan State
7. North Carolina
8. Ohio State
9. UMass
10. Oklahoma State
11. Baylor
12. Iowa State
13. Duke
14. Wichita State
15. UConn
16. Florida
17. Kansas
18. Kentucky
19. Iowa
20. Oregon

To me the one thing these early brackets can be useful for is sizing up the potential competition for specific sites. Right now it looks like our old friends Nova and UConn might be our biggest threats for Buffalo (if we give one to Ohio St.). The game on the 28th is gonna be big.

Carolina as a 4 is a joke. I can't think of more than a couple of teams that I'd rather be if selection sunday was right now.

Wisconsin lost to Carleton.

Wisconsin lost to Carleton.
Syracuse lost to Le Moyne College before the 2009-2010 season and I wouldn't claim they were better. I typically think Bo Ryan's squads aren't good enough to win in March, but this year's team for Wisconsin looks legit. The Badgers they don't have a deep bench, but their resume thus far is the most impressive in college basketball.

As of right now this is how I see it.

Strongest Seeds
1. Arizona (West)
2. Oklahoma St (East)
3. Villanova (East)
4. Kansas (West)
5. Memphis (West)
6. UMass (East)

Weakest
1. OSU (Midwest)
2. Duke (West)
3. Wichita State (South)
4. Kentucky (East)
5. Oregon (South)
6. UCLA (Midwest)
