talk on the Marquette forum that he may be interested with Altman probably going to Nebraska

Oregon?? Does he have some ties to there? Does not seem like a step up.

Doesn't make sense to me! Isn't he from Texas? Also, that's a step down IMO with the state of PAC 12 bball

There was talk of Izzo going to Oregon two years ago, because they were going to give him 5-6 million dollars a year. They can give ridiculous money

I hope, their fans have been gloating with all the nonsense thst happened to us this year

Are people suggesting that Oregon is a worse job than Marquette?

Nike vs. a hoops only?!?!

Seriously, I don't think a lot of this board understands the way things are moving in college athletics. This is border line no-brainer move despite Marquette's nice history.

Phil Knight money and a chance to win right away in a wide open major conference at a school without many academic restrictions? Buzz could do really well there.

I am guessing Altman is the Oregon coach?

So let me get this straight... the Oregon coach is leaving to go to NEBRASKA and the Marquette coach is thinking of leaving to go to the school where the coach thought he should leave to go to NEBRASKA.

I am pretty sure I heard that Nebraska had good facilities...

I dont give a . Nebraska IMO is the worst job in all of D1a big 6 conf. plus 10-50 mid majors are ahead of it. has ZERO tradition and no legit basketball talent within 500 miles.

Oregon has more money and better facilities than nebraska - plus it has Seattle which is certainly a top 10 (prob higher) city for basketball within striking distance.

So Buzz is leaving Marqutte is a legit conf to go there? Does he know the real reason why Altman is leaving?

this is a bigger head scratch-er than the auburn football OC going to coach at that small time school.

Harrison Barnes and McDermott were a state over...

I think Altman is from Nebraska and he probably grew up a Nebraska fan

He's from Nebraska and coached in Omaha for about 15 years.

Marquette's new president loves sports but will not spend a dime of it on athletics. He's a fundraising guru (like most Jesuits) and will do great things for academics and the endowment but will just keep the athletic department status in a sink or swim mentality with minimal change (ala buzz shaw). Buzz Williams may see the writing on the wall and the $ and I think it's smart for him to get out while he's on the rise. On that note I hope someone from BYU runs him over when he's running on the court during the game.

He will probably double his salary at Oregon, they have great facilities in Oregon and a brand new arena they play in, other than that why would he want to leave? with his JUCO connections and a down PAC 12, I would imagine he would be chomping at the bit. It's wide open.

Marquette vs Oregon, Hoops only versus BCS power, people this isn't 1979.. What.

Oregon will sell out every game with a top 30 program, they are dying for success at UO with hoops

this. nebraska has great facilities actually...new practice facility opened this year and new arena opens in 2

Larry Bird is from French Lick Indiana...

I wouldnt exactly call Iowa a hot bed for basketball talent.

If Buzz does in fact go to Oregon, hopefully he negotiates to change that ing court as part of his package. I didn't know Cabela's was big into basketball. Might as well go all in and have his players wearing fatigues, too.

Fr. Pilarz was the President while I was at Scranton for four years. When Scranton made the NCAA tourney in Division 3, he would be hoisted up on students' shoulders and lead the crowd chants...huge athletic supporter, but focused his money on the academic and student life side rather than athletics.
