Just asking, does it pay on the field or on the court to move from one conference to another or does the moving team always seem to get the short end of the stick in their new conference? So while exciting to have SU play Duke or UNC or other ACC teams, will the be as successful as they are now?

How did pitt do when they left the atlantic 10 (eastern 8) and went to the Big east? Or nova, who did the same. Didn't seem to hurt Louisville. VT Tech has done just fine going to the ACC. Do I need to go on?

We're going from a somewhat dysfunctional conference (from a business model standpoint) in terms of its mix of hoops only and hoops/FB schools.....if not now, then certainly in the future, trying to compete with the "Big 4" Super Conferences. Hoops would not be the problem, but even that would suffer from a recruiting standpoint. FB would be a major problem because it is not the money-maker in the BE that it is in the other major conferences, not to mention the competitive factor and probably being out of BCS consideration. That's just just the way things are rolling today. It's a no-brainer from both a stability and financial standpoints. There is really no viable option. We either go with it when an opportunity like this comes along or get left behind and become a relatively minor factor in major college athletics.

Louisville has been very good in the Big East for basketball.

Cincy won back-to-back football championships in 08 and 09.

VPI has won 3 ACC championships in the past 4 years.

Right now, there are only 4 contenders to win the ACC (basketball) - Duke, UNC, SU, and Pitt. In the Big East, there were usually 6 or 7 viable (top 25) teams going into each season. Cuse will continue to be a basketball powerhouse nationally and football will remain in a conference where they can continue to grow and won't be buried in the basement like they would have been if we joined the BIG 1X.
