I'm sure that option is on the table, but I'd have to think that would really hurt their bball recruiting. While fball drives the bus, bball matters, especially at Louisville.
I'm not sure how many 'Ville recruits come out of NY, but I think there's at least a few. I know that WVU gets at least a few recruits out of NY/ NE.
Going to the Big 12 will cut off all NY and east coast connections for both schools. I don't see any way the schools could voluntarily choose that option for their programs.
I think the BE will stay intact, save for SU and Pitt. I'm sure none of the schools are going to be happy, but no one was happy in 03, and it still all worked out pretty well.
