Caught virus on this site earlier tonight

It was one of those fake antivirus trojans that hijacks your Windows XP system and won't let you open up or use any other programs. I was able to get rid of it without a lot of hassle (thank Steve Jobs for my iMac) but I have had some of these that can be really nasty. I am not a computer expert by any stretch, and all I know is that I was surfing this site when the damn thing showed up on my screen.

Just wanted to let everyone know.

Had the same thing Sunday - McAfee took care of it, but I had to wait until it found all the executables and then had to reboot.

I had issues also but it was about 2 weeks ago. I'm wondering with so many of the posts having links for articles, videos and interviews etc especially during this Fine fiasco, could that be an issue? If someone posts a link is there a way to know or ensure if it's a safe link? Just wondering. Thank you.

Hate to bring this up again, but I have been today only on this site, cnn.com and facebook. Have not followed any links. I am being bombarded. Not sure if it's this site or not, but I have to believe cnn.com and fb are 'safe'. Not a criticism, just trying to figure out what's going on.

The only real solution, if anyone is worried, is to not click on any of the links posted by users. Most of the virus scanning programs scan a site, and the sites linked to at the site being visited. There are absolutely no viruses or trojans on this site. None. I can't speak for the sites people link to, but I doubt there are viruses there either. If anything, the java in some of the ads, and/or the sites linked to in the ads, are causing false positives.

Firefox + NoScript with no antivirus program = safer for internet browsing than any antivirus program available.

This site seems to be a lot like Syracuse.com and gives my computer the same type of problems as well, I don't have a problem anywhere else like I do these two sites, not even close.
