and become a consistent contributor?

The last time James made a 3 pointer in a meaningful minute was against Cornell... CJ looks lost on defense and was exploited again today.

I know people like to shut up the CJ/Pace comparison but..
CJ on the defensive board looks like Pace when he played the in the zone. Out-sized and not strong enough.

Both of these guys were solid against Cinci, and did a solid job on the glass. Not so much today.

Its bad enough we have Joseph standing around, watching the activity happen in the paint... CJ has to mix it up when he is in there. We have three forwards who are slight of frame and afraid of contact. Not a great combo when your options at the 5 are thin and limited as well.

Shoot the ball!!!
No excuse for the way James and Kris have been the past few games with wide open looks. They've contributed in other ways but Geez Louise! Oh, and about our rebounding...

This team needs to hit the weight room. And next year, we're bringing in Grant, who is another toothpick. Good thing Coleman has a lot of bulk.

Terrible defense by CJ all game. He keeps extending on WVU's guards up high and leaving Kevin Jones alone on the baseline and open in the corner. WVU ran that play at least 6 times and every time CJ vacated to double the guard he kept getting burned. He did it again on the last play but was lucky that Jones missed the shot. Can't believe no coach got on him and corrected it. Don't double the guard on the wing, stay with Jones on the baseline. Ugh!

Rakeem had 3 fouls due to CJ's cheating up... he tried to cover for him. Not really Rak's fault on those...

other prolonged slump You can tell the moment he releases the ball if he is "aiming at the basket rather than shooting naturally and smoothly as he does when he is connected to the basket . Triche might have the smoothest shot in the BE. Dion lost his 3 somewhere between high school and Syracuse. A great athlete on the court his outside shot isn't there for us yet and perhaps never will be by the time he leaves. He has quite a few games to prove mr wrong. I just hope he picks a big one to do it in.Any tournament game in March will do nicely. I gotta wonder if the Trevor Cooney decision ever crosses Jimmy's mind when the rest of the team is playing shoot and fall back to defense after we lose the board game again and again.SUball

Watching the team trying to rebound since Fab has gone out. I see that its not just getting their hands on the ball, its a matter of holding on to the ball. Today was especially frustrating watching the ball being knocked out of their grasp with no foul calls on WV Moose needs the weight room as does CJ. MCW didn't play today to my knowledge. He too needs work on his thin frame.couchburn

JS's threes against Notre Dame weren't meaningful?

He pretty much kept us in that game.

Except for the time he didn't stay up long enough and got burned when the guard up top buried a three. If they've got a shooter up there, he's supposed to guard him.

I'm sure Jimmy will address those lapses. the newest crap ass thing to say during the game by the voices coming out of the speakers. "The elbow shot". show me a shot that doesn't require the use of the elbow please. Really, a short J is now the elbow shot?

You know, I never thought of it like that, but Cali is completely right.

I don't think Cali's right. I'm sure "elbow jumper" is a reference not to the literal elbow of a shooter's arm, but the elbow of the court...the corner of the foul line/ lane that is referred to as the "elbow."

If there's one thing that I've learned on this board, it's that you'll enjoy your life a lot more if you put aside what you think is right in favor of what Cali knows.

Pacxe made up for that with endless energy! He made it appear that we had six men on the court with his movement.SUball

they are role players in the current pecking order. when on the court, they are doing what JB wants them to do. neither one is going to "step up" and take over a game because that is not the role JB has designated for them.

While I personally think JB is misusing James (he would be far more effective if he took more twos and fewer threes, IMO), I also know that JB knows about 1000x more about basketball in general and his team in particular than I do and that there is a reason for the roles he has assigned.

Yep, and anybody who thinks CJ is 6'8 is nuts.

To me, Kris looks about the listed 6'7," James looks a legit 6'8," and CJ's probably about 6'6".

then James is not 6'8 either, and Joseph must be 6'5[/quote

I think James is taller than all three with CJ/Joseph/Southerland in that order...something like 6'6.5-6'8. Fair is not 6'8 though. No way.

This is more like what I'm thinking.
