Coaching Candidates

If we use the same money allotment we had for Monroe and use it on a coach with the same prowess. Who would that be? Drops same names of candidates here. These two hires are crucial.

work down this list...haha

Interesting that a certain coach isn't even in their top 200. We're doomed. LOL

Not sure if these names have been brought up as potential candidates for the vacancy left by N. Monroe...but just for S#!|+s and Giggles. I believe Dre Bly and UNC recently parted ways.

Patrick Toney

School
: Florida
Top recruit: Kamari Wilson
What he did: Convincing players your school is the perfect place is hard. But it’s even more complex when you arrive on campus with about a month left to Signing Day. That was the case for Patrick Toney. And it didn’t stop him from landing a good portion of the Gator’s 25th-ranked class.

Toney played a pivotal role in landing four-star safety Kamari Wilson, the top overall prospect in UF’s class and a top-50 recruit.

He was also the key recruiter for four-star defensive lineman Chris McClellan, who is the No. 120 player in Oklahoma. At one point, it appeared he was a lock for a school closer to home. But Toney flipped the script.

Then there was his work with top-60 overall player and four-star linebacker Shemar James and four-star safety Devin Moore, a top 200 prospect.

Toney quickly proved he can recruit on a national level and is worthy of being mentioned as one of the top recruiters in the 2022 class.

Dre Bly

School: North Carolina
Top recruit: Zach Rice
What he did: The former Tar Heel legend has now established himself as one of the top recruiters in the country. And that’s especially true with the 2022 class at UNC that finished at No. 10 in the country.

Bly was the central recruiter for Rice, the five-star offensive tackle that is one of the top all-time recruits signed by the Tar Heels. That effort is worthy of inclusion.

He also recruited four-star and top-10 running back George Pettaway, four-star receiver Tychaun Chapman and four-star cornerbacks Tayon Holloway and Marcus Allen.

As Bly’s reputation grows, so will his success on the national recruiting trail. It will be exciting to see who he lands in the future.

Ja’Juan Seider

School: Penn State
Top recruit: Nick Singleton
What he did: Landing the Gatorade national football player of the year is always a good thing to have on your resume. That’s exactly what Ja’Juan Seider did when he signed five-star running back Nick Singleton out of Reading (Pa.) Governor Mifflin.

Singleton is the all-time leading career rusher in Berks County history. That is thanks in part to a 2,043-yard season in 2021 that also included a whopping 41 touchdowns.

And he’s taking all that talent to Happy Valley, thanks to the job that Seider did recruiting him.

Seider also was the primary recruiter for another talented running back in four-star Kaytron Allen out of IMG Academy in Florida.

There were others on the Penn State staff that did excellent jobs and played a big part in the No. 7 class, but we’re adding Seider’s name to the top recruiter list for revamping the running back room.

Go get Danny Gonzalez. He’s lucky he hasn’t been fired yet as New Mexico HC. He’s a longtime Rocky assistant. Makes 725k right now.
Whatever we can offer would be better than the unemployment line next season.

All good names. But...

Tomey is reported to make more than $1 million at Florida.

I doubt we can pull Bly from his alma mater.

Seider specializes in offense. He was promoted to "Assistant Head Coach" this week and is likely earning more than $1 million.

How is dino going to configure his staff moving forward? We have a need at three positions: linebackers (White), safeties (Monroe and tight ends (Anae).

If Long only serves as DC and official 3-3-5 "mentor" then we need a linebacker coach, a coach for safeties and a tight end coach.

  • Parker Baldwin is currently works with our safeties as a GA. Although he played safety in the 3.3.5, he lacks coaching and recruiting experience.
  • Linebacker coach; any ideas? Find someone with experience with an emphasis on recruiting.
  • TE coach; could go young using someone with recruiting experience.

Yeah, why would SU want a former HC at a P5 school (school name withheld), who also worked as the OL coach for Bama and the Atlanta Falcons, is the OC at Texas, and has ties to NYC and NJ?

Kyle is making 1.5 mil or somesuch in Texas.

Considering the guy was an all timer at UNC, that's probably a massive strike against Bly. UNC loves their alumni hanging around forever.

I remember the 1996 opener in the Dome when Jim Turner wore a jacket made out of Dre Bly.

I guess they can't all coach as well as they play.

Does Syracuse have enough money to get fellow Ohana advocate Brian Norwood? I know he's at UCLA but I don't think he's a DC. I also doubt Cuse could pay him enough.

This situation feels like you target at least one high school head coach in FL or NJ with significant ties to the region and promote.

Thats an excellent suggestion. Norwood is a very good coach.

He has experience in the northeast, Penn St 2001-07.

He played at the University of Hawaii while Dino was a GA in 1984.

He was on the staff with Babers at Baylor for three years, 2008-11.

Norwood is making $535K a year and living in southern California. There are pros and cons to living and working in southern California. His kids are adults so he's probably more worried about seeing his grand kids (if he has any) then raising his own kids (like White and Monroe)

It's a conversation worth having.

Dre Bly and UNC mutually parted ways yesterday.

Interesting.

Some really good names coming up.

  • Brian Norwood; safeties, passing game coordinator, NJ recruiting.
  • Derrick Gibson; linebackers, Florida recruiting.
  • Dre Bly; safeties, NJ or Fla.

Hire 2 of these 3.

Have a GA coach the TEs.

The problem is there are only two coaching spots available. There is a limit to how many coaches you can have on staff... not counting grad assistants and analysts. Someone is going to have to coach two positions if Rocky doesn't.
