Good morning, Syracuse faithful! I haven't contributed anything in a while so I would like to link [below] to an article I enjoyed scrolling through the charts it provides concerning the almighty coaching carousel this past decade and the few head coaches who are still at the same school heading into the 2017 season. (Yes, Bob Stoops' exit has been updated on it.) Since I'm a long-time lurker on here, I'd love to read anyone's thoughts, opinions, insights, etc., concerning the coaching landscape then and now.

I hope everyone reading this is doing well, as well as one can be these days, and may the excitement of another college football season fast approaching lift all our spirits...

Where FBS head coaches 10 years ago are today

P.S.- A question for the Rutgers' intel on this board, I noticed Ralph "The Fridge" Friedgen is no longer with Rutgirls according to this article; did he spend one season as offensive coordinator with the Scarlet Knights before retiring again? :noidea:

He may have already been gone when Ash was hired.

Aside from the normal attrition due to age, it seems obvious that most of them were old school guys. The wave of O guys that have really move the ball fwd (on the field and philosophy-wise) have supplanted the old ways to an extent.

I'm really, really glad to be on the wave as opposed to fighting the current. Clemson has shown a way fwd for a public school like ours (though proximity to recruits and booster money for FB differs by a lot) to regain some traction.

Looking fwd to having you guys in the dome.

Could be wrong, but I thought there was a plan to move him into administration as a special football consultant

I see most of them are "out of coaching" - getting a major job (P5 FBS) is like winning the lottery. Schools pay millions on the severance.

An interesting subcategory for the guys out of coaching would be to see how many were fired versus retired due to age. Of course that could be murky with how many "resign" instead of being fired. Another would be to see how many moved to higher profile jobs versus lateral moves versus lower profile.

My general observation is that being a head coach is hard. If your school has a really good one, you're lucky if you can keep them for 10 years.
