Let me start by saying VA is really good and plays two legit big men away from the basket, and that really helps the passing That was a big part of the problem. But our team needs to make some fixes.

Here's the game log of how we contested shots in the second half. There was 2-3 shots I gave a .5 contest to for being close.
1.5 6 shots
1.5 out of 7 shots
2.5 out of 8 (forced layup and a turnover).
2.5 out of 9.
2.5 out of 10.
3.5 out of 11 (brass hit him from behind on a jumshot maybe a block).
4.5 out of 12 (brass fouls center layup should have been and one)
4.5 out of 13 transition dunk
Marek fouls on entry pass
5. out of 14 half contest on a leaning jumper swisch.
5 out of 15 corner 3 late close out.
Press begins.
Turover va.
5 for 16 (bad shot for virginia though)
Tuvnover va.
Turnover va.
Dunk 5 for 17
Dunk against press 5 for 18
5 for 19 missed J from center their other big with putback dunk. Uncontested backdoor rebound.
Foul on dribble close out pump fake
6 for 20 kadary on close out block
Va recovers 6 for 21 missed open 3 undcontested.
7 for 21 marek stuffs bad layup 2 on 1 break still pressing
7 for 22 backdoor oop in halfcourt.
Foul during press va shoots 2.
Guerrier steals inbounce easy 2
4 minutes to go
7 for 23 Corner 3 good so wide open 16 point game.
Girard fouls after turnover va shoots 2.
7 for 24 Turnover uncontested layup.
8 for 25 Kadary another blocked 3 su recovers 2 30 to go.
9 for 26 dolezaj fouls on layup one on one from ft line.
9 for 27 kickout 3 uncontested 1 minute to go.
9 for 28 another uncontested 3. Less than 33% of shots contested the second half. Ouch.

We should look to an extended half court press with Edwards, JBA at the 4, Woody Brass, and think about sitting all buddy griff girard for a 4 minute stretch each half when games like this get out of control in the halfcourt. Then put them back in still extended once that defense settles in to some dominance in 3-4 minutes. The 3/4 does tire teams out but doesn't break their half court confidence. Why not look to use the 3/4 full court press after that instead? Depth is not an issue.
