So after going 5-8 from deep today, he is now 41-81 from 3 this year. 50.6%. And he's averaging almost 3.5 3's per game. The kid can flat-out shoot and play some D (28 steals or 2.3/game). So glad we got him for another 2 years.

Are you kidding me White Hot?

I'm beginning to like the nickname Shaky Potatoes for him more and more...its starting to grow on me because 1. White hot is just ok and 2. it would be unique

I like the term "Shaky Potatoes" in general for players on this team that exceed the expectations of some naysayers on this board, but it was termed for Cooney so I'm all for it being part of his nickname, or adjective to describe his performance ... thanks IB!

Eh, he'd be better off at a D3 school, or low D1. Totally shaky potatoes.

It's funny that I didn't like the matchup today with all of Nova's guards. Thought they would really get into Cooney's jock. Then the game started and Nova had four threes before Cooney even broke a sweat. Fortunately it's a team game and that's where Cuse's strength really is. CJ helps Cooney's game. Cooney helps Ennis' game. Grant helps CJ's game. Ennis helps everyone's game.

Here is a list of the NCAA's all time 3 pt shooters and it really shows how Cooney measures up percentage wise. The kid is amazing.

he seems like he is playing a little better this year...

Nova was our biggest comp for cooney and at one point he was a nova lean was he not?

We do not necessarily have him for another two years.

He did something for the first time this game that I have been waiting for. He used his dribble to create space before taking the shot. As soon as he grows into the skill to create his own space he is off to the NBA. I'd guess that we only get one more year of Cooney and we will be lucky to get one more year of Ennis.

I think Shaky Potatoes still has room to get even better.

I remember he did this also during one of the Maui games.

I believe you are right. Twice this year he has used the dribble to create space. If he can develop this skill and shoot over 40% from 3 he will be NBA material.

That's what was most impressive. The other thing is that Cooney doesn't force shots like GMac used to do. All of the looks are pretty good and his quick release makes it nearly impossible for the defender to catch up.

Even when he misses, it seems like the shots are in and out. He is deadly accurate.
