For the past several years the media has hyped this kid to epic proportions. Hey, as a Syracuse fan to the max I hold our players in high esteem above all others but at the same time I'm happy to give props to deserving players from the opposing teams. It seems at times that the media will pick up some meme about a particular player and then every other network/ announcer piles on with the same stuff.
Craft plays with a high level of intensity no doubt but in my eyes a foul is still a foul. This year the rules have supposedly changed to eliminate/ cut down on hand checking. Apparently Craft has been excluded from having to adhere to the new guidelines. As I watched the Ohio State/ ND game Craft could be seen checking, swatting, punching at the opponent and the ball and in the closing seconds he pretty much threw his entire body at Jerian Grant and then had the audacity to act as though he expected not to be called for the foul.
When I listen to announcers celebrate Craft as some type of Uber ultra, All American, Woodenesque, defensive miracle incarnate, all the while watching him foul continuously without being held accountable it tests the limits of my sensibilities. Perhaps I have no clue as to what it is that constitutes a foul. The funny thing about that is other players are called for doing the things I watch Aaron Craft do. Why isn't he called for it? It's disturbing to me that there can be such a disparity in the way the rules are enforced among different players. I also cannot hold Aaron Craft in high esteem when I watch him play a brand of basketball that frankly we'd be better off not allowing.
