And right out of the gate Syverud’s (the guy who hates sports) group and proposal is mentioned.

Do you think Swinney mentioned the proposal for leverage forward movement or possibly to push an invite to the SEC or B1G? Another alternative? Honest question, not a set up.

Hasn't Dabo been saying this since 2023?

Maybe the "sooner than later" comment means someone told him something??

I thought 2031 was the year the big conferences' TV contracts expire?? Would be a major groudswell move if all that's getting restructured now for the new superleague.

I do not think that the SEC or BT will ever give uo anything. They may accept something that creates a new division with 3, possibly even 4, conferences left standing, but they will demand that they be whole and that their regular season TV money be greater.

And that playoff spots be determined by league membership, with BT and SEC each guaranteed more slots than anybody else.

It’s not really a secret than two Competing PE groups have been meeting schools and raising capital to essentially privatize football.

The SEC/Bix X commissioners hold alot/too much sway in the situation.

Would it be possible for the Saudis to somehow create or fund this super league? One of the princes is a Cuse alum. Could help us get in?
That alum at one time recently was not in good graces with the ruling part of his family.

He was under house arrest and had some assets seized.

Not sure what his actual standing is currently.

From the wiki

On 4 November 2017, Al Waleed and other prominent Saudis (including fellow billionaires Waleed bin Ibrahim Al Ibrahim and Saleh Abdullah Kamel) were arrested in Saudi Arabia as part of Mohammed bin Salman's purge to centralize power in Saudi Arabia.[12][13] The allegations against Al Waleed include money laundering, bribery, and extorting officials.[14] Some of the detainees were held in the Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh.[15] Al Waleed was released from detention on 27 January 2018, following a financial settlement of some kind, after nearly three months in detention.[16][17] In March 2018 he was dropped from the World's Billionaires list due to lack of current information.[18] He was listed in the 'Top 100 most powerful Arabs' from 2013 to 2021 by Gulf Business.[19][20][21]

Al Waleed was released from detention in late January 2018, nearly three months after his arrest.[17] According to a Wall Street Journal report, the price for his release was $6 billion.[62] In comparison, his first cousin Prince Mutaib bin Abdullah, son of the late King Abdullah (1924–2015), was released after reportedly paying $1 billion.[63]

Just days before his arrest, Al Waleed reportedly contacted US-based Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi (who had publicly criticized the Saudi government in the past) and invited him to return to the Kingdom to contribute to Mohammad bin Salman's vision.[64]
