NASCAR has mastered the art of drafting. Everybody knows you go faster with a car in front of you and another one behind you because the one in front cuts a tunnel in the air for you to go through and the one in back eats the turbulence. For that reason they go around the track in what amounts to a parade because nobody wants to be on their own. Unfortunately, it means that the only things that are visually interesting are the accidents, which because the cars are so closely bunched together, tend to take out at least 5-6 cars at a time.
Racing used to be about catching an individual car and figuring out a way to get around him, then going on to the next one. That was more interesting.
