Looks like he uses his size very well. Extremely physical corner. Wondering if we are planning on using more man coverage defense since it would seem to better fit the style of corners we have been recruiting?

So we basically went from 6'3" Davis to 6'3" Spence?

I can live with that. We really want to get bigger more physical at the CB position

Perhaps. Video shows he's not reluctant to stick his nose in. Plus good size.
Looks like he fits our defensive mold...fast ,hard hitting, and hard-nosed.

#49 in the Miami-Dade county preseason player ranking.

Davante Davis is #16, Gerald Robinson (Syracuse commit) is #28.

Last year, Ishmael was #8 on this list, Trumaine Washington (Syracuse recruit) was #21, Alin Eduoard was #29, Antwan Cordy was #32.

Just for comparison, #48 last year - safety Ryan Mayes - signed with Miami.

Shafer loves cover 0 and cover 1 if he has the personnel to do so. Give him lots of options with his blitz packages.

We put Davis out of our minds pretty quick

Indiana, UAB, South Alabama vs Davis' offers.

Hardly makes up for it.

Not saying the kid isn't worth taking, but it's not an even trade.

No but we get a kid with a skill set to become good. It also doesn't mean Davis isn't coming back (it's highly unlikely, obviously, but its not like if he wants to come back we will say no).

Size, speed and physicality at the CB spot that our staff obviously likes. What more could we ask for if we couldn't hang onto Davis?

Let's see who else piles on now.
