Why not us? Ranked as the #3 available transfer by 247. He was only recruited by Army.

Here's why, and here's why we should go after him. From 247:

"Elo Modozie has transformed from a 6-foot-3, 195-pound high school receiver to a 245-pound edge rusher with two remaining seasons of eligibility and emerged among the Group of Five's most impactful pass rushers last year. He ended the 2024 season with 34 tackles (eight for loss) and 6 1/2 sacks. His 37 pressures were fifth in the AAC, according to PFF, in just 236 pass-rush snaps. Modozie and North Carolina's Beau Atkinson are commanding a ton of interest since making themselves available."

This is the kind of add this program needs

Going to command big money. Would be a great pickup but not sure we will outbid certain programs.

You're probably right. I just figured that, since he committed to Army in the first place, he wasn't necessarily seeking a bag. Now that he's grown into a DE, he just might be looking to move up in class, as long as we're competitive, and offer him a chance to perhaps get to the League.

Elo Modozie, one of Army’s most talented and top defensive players, announced that he’s entering the transfer portal.

Modozie, a sophomore edge linebacker, posted his decision on social media Tuesday afternoon, stating he has two years of eligibility remainining.

”My journey at West Point has been nothing short of a blessing,” Modozie wrote. “This decision was not easy as my experiences here were rewarding both on and off the field. I’ve grown and learned in ways that I never could’ve imagined.

”I’m thankful for every moment and opportunity along the way. I want to express my sincere appreciation to coach (Jeff Monken), coach (Nate Woody), the coaching staff, my teammates and everyone in the Army football community for their support and guidance throughout my journey here. Army football will always have my support.”

Modozie played a major role in Army finishing eighth in total defense in the country and winning the American Athletic Conference championship in their first season on the league. He led Army with 6.5 sacks, 7 quarterback hurries and two blocked kicks.

Modozie’s stats don’t tell the whole story. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Modozie demanded double teams, forcing quarterback on many occasions to throw the ball much earlier than they wanted.

Modozie’s skills and potential have impressed NFL scouts visiting Army practices last season.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Modozie attracted the same Power Four offers in the portal that former Army running back Kanye Udoh, who is now at Arizona State, did after the season

How does an Army athlete “transfer”? Who covers the cost of his time at West Point? Taxpayers yes but Is it that easy to get out of your commitment to the country?

Imagine a David Robinson today?? After he lit us up (and even before) every blue blood would break the bank for him.

You're allowed to withdraw from a service academy during your first 2 years without penalty.

Before you begin your Junior year, you sign a contract which obligates you to 2 more years at the academy plus 6 years of active duty. If you withdraw during your Junior or Senior years, you are responsible to reimbursing the Gov't for the cost of your education.

If the academies can do this why can't other universities use the same structure?

Aren’t schools like George already loaded. Surprised they are scouring the portal so hard
