I’m curious if anybody else thinks it is a good idea and opportunity to take something terrible and make something good out of it.

If he coaches or not why not get a movement for all to wear a different predetermined color to show max support for Jim!!

If it’s his favorite color besides orange

or white-symbol of life

or black - morning death

Or blue- feeling blue

or maybe red

for the symbol of love and support and Coach Autry.

Imagine the statement it would make for what Cuse nation can get done and the message it would send to Jim!!

Thoughts ?

I like the idea of doing something to support Coach and would be on board in whatever catches on

It may not be a bad idea but it’s far too late for it to gain any traction.
That’s conventional wisdom but with news media just need an Excelerator As nobody’s dressed for the game yet

Sometimes horrible things just happen. In this case it happened to our beloved coach. But that’s it. If I was the family of the deceased I would not want additional attention, I would want to grieve.

Just not blue, haha

Don't think so these things happen and are a part of life its just a no fault (albeit fatal) motor accident on 690.

Moments silence for someone who was likely an SU hoops fan is in order. ESPN will go up in my estimation if they do not focus on JB during that or the game in general and pan out and show the crowd. If you want to talk about JB talk about Buddy who might be on the verge of forcing his way into the starting lineup and is becoming more than a 3 point specialist.

Lets say this never happened and the story was no Zion playing. Imagine our media people playing clips of famous NBAers saying he should never play a college game again and showing the injury over and over and zoom in on K and put his reaction on the monitor. Thats sort of what ESPN focusing on JB would be like but 10x worse. Lets hope they don't go there.

Cheer loud for the players they are going up against the #1 team in the country essentially without their HOF coach. (This will absolutely effect our pregame routines from a coaching POV Gmac/AA/Griffen will be doing more of it than usual.)

There's a problem with the idea.
Jim Boeheim certainly needs support and needs time to heal and deal with this.
But a man is dead.
It's of dubious propriety to express "support for the coach" without putting the victim and his family first.
Any show of "support" needs to be for the family, the coach and all involved in this awful accident.

We could pay tribute to the victim the family and support coach I disagree

I’ve been reading and taking this all in today. I think the problem with any tributes or recognition is, well frankly that the only reason to do it is because the head coach had a part in the man’s death. We’re not having moments of silence for every traffic accident fatality in Syracuse, so the only reason to do it would draw laser beam attention on to JB. And that is a problem. I suspect that is why College Gameday chose to relocate. It is just too sticky of a situation to deal with. Almost anything you could do would draw attention to probably the worst event in JB’s life, minimize the memory of the man who died, or otherwise be of poor taste.

The bottom line is the whole thing is awful. It was a horrible accident and a person lost their life. But that is not unique, statistics say that over 700 people died in car accidents in the US this week, 20 or so in NY state alone. The only unique thing in this case is Boeheim’s involvement. I really don’t know what the right thing to do is, while also respecting the various involved parties.

I agree with this. Obviously JB needs support, but a family lost someone...all involved need the support, so a showing that would come off as showing mostly support for JB would ultimately seem a bit off in some way to me. However, well intentioned it may be, it's bad optics.

Um yeah, since an “orange out” produces a high percentage of people in green, purple, and brown, I’m guessing it wouldn’t work anyway.

Assuming Jim is coaching, and Buddy playing, I think a moment of silence would be awful for them. Imagine if you were Jim in that situation, standing on the court in the silence. I think I'd immediately break down. Unless Jim wants it, l wouldn't do it

How about Orange?

This was a tragic and awful incident. As HoustonCuse pointed out it happens everyday, multiple times a day. For the family of Jorge Jimenez, the man killed in the accident, this is devastating, for Boeheim it is something he will have to live and deal with for the rest of his life. The only thing that makes this particular vehicular related death of wider interest is because it involved a 'high profile' individual.

I think it is most appropriate to have a moment of silence and expression of condolences before Saturday's game and then leave this as it should be, an intensely private matter for the people involved to work through as best they can.

I agree. He's a public figure, yes, and fans want to show their support. But this happened to Jim Boeheim the individual. I don't think it needs to be turned into a Syracuse University thing.

Let's make sure we support both sides, not just Jim Boeheim.

My two cents, don’t do anything. It’s nobody’s fault. It was a freak accident. There’s nothing that can be done, and there’s nothing to talk about.
I think there's is something that can be done. Each In our own way. Thoughts prayers, Showing compassion, consideration and empathy or providing support to those directly affected by the tragic events.
