Dino's Game 11 Press Conference for Notre Dame

Babers starts with commenting on the passing of Markus Paul, not saying much but sending out prayers to his family.

Dino Babers on playing at Notre Dame: "Not only do you get to play, but you get to play on their TV station. It's a big deal. ... This is one of the traditional programs in history. ... If you enjoy playing, this is what games are for."

Dino Babers is excited about his young linebackers. In past years, SU reloaded with seniors. Now he's got younger guys with years to improve and, he says, NFL potential. Growth at the position has allowed DC Tony White to install more and more of his 3-3-5.

Dino Babers said he wants to put his QBs in a position to protect themselves. Implies that QB injuries aren't a system issue. Jimmy G played entire season in 2012-13 at EIU. Recalls Matt Johnson's season-ending injury came fighting for yards in 2014. Johnson played all of 2015.

Babers on the Notre Dame offensive line (and tight end): "They line up next to each other and they look like a bunch of redwood trees blocking out the sun."

Babers said he's "waiting to hear" on the potential availability of freshman QB JaCobian Morgan. Morgan didn't play vs. NC State after suffering an upper-body injury at Louisville.

Dino Babers implies that Chris Elmore saved the season by moving to guard during the preseason: "We would not have been able to finish the season without him. It would've been 11 no contests without Chris."

Dino Babers said he had conversations with RBs Abdul Adams and Jarveon Howard before they opted out. Since then, it's been "limited." Glad they're safe and doing well during the pandemic, but he doesn't really answer the question: how confident he is that they'll come back.

Dino Babers asked for his best Andre Szmyt story. Goes back to meeting his mother on the night Szmyt won the Lou Groza Award: "You could see how loving yet how strict she is. When she says something, it's going to happen."

Babers is a little befuddled as to how some took his postgame comments on Taj Harris this weekend. He reminds us of receivers who caught a bunch of passes in the past (Erv Philips had 17 vs. NC State in 2017). "I see Taj as being better than all of those receivers."

without playing games the D wouldnt be nearly as far along as will be next yr.. you got tons of kids lots of practice time. its like a 15 week spring practice.

now we also played all yr with most of the guys out who wont be back anyway on the back end.. Hopefully Cooley comes back and Nunn and we need 1 corner to step up.
