Dino's Game 4 Press Conference | Virginia

Stephen Bailey @Stephen_Bailey1
Syracuse HC Dino Babers opens his Monday presser by crediting the Purdue win to special teams and turnovers. Describes Virginia as a “very serious” opponent.

WR Isaiah Jones is “probably done for the year” after suffering an upper-body injury against Purdue. Tough situation for a guy who thrived this offseason before initially getting hurt on Day 1 of camp.

Babers said that Syracuse is taking a hard look at its running game and Sean Tucker’s lack of breakaway runs. His longest carry through three games: 13 yards. Babers believes his All-American RB is physically healthy after getting dinged in Week 1.

Babers said he’s hoping to have WR/KR Trebor Pena back for Virginia on Friday

Babers knows emotions will be high for offensive assistants Robert Anae and Jason Beck, as well as UVA players on Friday. Asked if Anae and Beck are working to prep the SU defense, Babers said they’re doing all they can to help the program prepare.

Babers declined comment on defensive coordinator Tony White’s presumed candidacy for the recently opened head coaching position at Arizona St.

Babers on the relationship between Beck and Shrader: “They make a good couple. They’re not odd.”

Babers on Oronde Gadsden II becoming the go-to guy in the passing game: “I don’t know if he got the job, but he’s definitely getting an interview.”

Glad to hear that Dino and the staff aren't taking anything lightly and for granted this week. New week, new ACC opponent, new opportunity. Glad to hear that they are trying to fine tune the running game this week too to get Sean more opportunities.

you listen to him talk about the throws.. One reason for the plays to Tucker failing is that Shrader does not put much air on the ball on those throws and that allowed the Lb to get back into plays more than they should.. One thing Brady does is throw the high deep ball well and that allows completions into smaller windows.. Pros make that type of throws. Its not just about getting it from a to b its also how it gets there.

Much like baseball fine you can throw it from left field to home on the fly but if it goes 150 ft in the air instead of 80 and 1 hop it might get there 3 secs later and be late..

On plays like we see where there is no deep help higher deeper throws make the play easier..

Who asked this question? Wasn't White only their 1 year AND passed over for the DC job? Why would he be a presumed candidate? Dumb question to ask.

Ask this question; I'd like to know why other Syracuse RBs dont get any carries to bring a little relief to Tucker. Everybody gives RB #2 carries during a game. Even teams with heisman hopeful running backs.

Would like to see what Price can do here. His college tape from last year looked really good.

Dino needs to drop the Heisman talk and get real here. Sean's thigh is still bruised. He will never admit it in a presser or other coaches will instruct their players to take dirty punches at his thigh in the pile.

Sean needs more rest. Give Price and Allen a few reps for Chripe's sake, assuming they've shown in practice that they can handle the mental/physical aspects.
