My son plays on his XBoxOne. He's pretty good, winning with some regularity. I imagine he'd do a whole lot better if I ever get a WiFi extender so he gets more regular coverage in the basement.

I'm just curious what the level of addiction is here.

Figured out what it was for the first time last week when a buddy showed me a video. Asked me if I wanted to join in and start playing...I passed.

I passed for two reasons. As seen by my messages count, I have a problem with self-control. So, I'd likely lose my job if I started playing.

Secondly, I'm not good with the new fanged video game controllers. So, I'd play a lot but would be terrible. Not a great combo.

My son, like your son, is all into it. I watch him play but it doesn't do anything for me. I am still playing Battlefield 1 which is by far my favorite game of the past few years.

I’m usually a Call of Duty guy but WW2 didn’t do it for me. Now that summer is slowly approaching, I am outside about as often as I can be but I am looking forward to the new Black Ops in the fall.

I have a few guys I regularly play with from the AVS forums but I think we should look into getting a XBox thread together for board members sometime.

I've been playing on my phone for the last month or so. Won solo twice. Been on the winning team in 50/50 several times. I'm addicted.

I downloaded it on my phone a few weeks ago when I was a little toasted. Ran around for like 5 minutes, don't even think I had a weapon. Said "screw it" and deleted it. Maybe I'll have to give it another shot

He just got it, we only let him play squad mode with his friends, as he’s 8.

But in the last two weeks we have played a lot of Powell Lacrosse 18. It’s actually pretty good.

I was wondering how that was. I don't play video games much anymore, but might scoop it up for rainy days/winter.

It’s way better than anything that came before it. It’s not liscensed so teams are kinda made up, ie Syracuse Citrus etc.

But you can create your own teams/ players/ stadiums, and download teams and players created by other users. Syracuse, Albany, pro teams, etc. Paul rabil, rob pannell, Gait, etc.

I will say this, I think it’s helping my 8 year old lax player understand more of the game that he hasn’t learned yet at the 3-4 level.

Just read an article about how this game (fortnite) is changing the whole playing field. The game is free, but they charge for the skins, accessories (the costume as I tease my son), and they charge a lot more than similar games. And they limit the availability of the 'stuff' further driving up the prices. 50 dollar gift card went away quick a couple weeks ago.

I have had more than a few conversations about not spending cash on skins. He doesn't buy anything without my permission but that doesn't stop him from asking for the skins. Every time he does we end up talking about the value of things. At some point he is going to get tired of his old man talking about it, right? LOL

As a long time gamer (40+ years now) I am more than a bit unhappy about the pay 2 play that has crept into the consoles from the mobile markets. The days of grinding the game for the advanced stuff are long gone. They just want kids to pay for it flat out. I mean it is devilishly, evil the way they have basically monetized participation trophies.

There's also the problem of loot boxes in games now. My 8 year old and I play Angry Birds 2 together - totally wholesome and I felt a reasonable game for a little kid, but we end up having conversations about gambling because half of the game mechanic is a casino for all intents and purposes. Pretty sad, but from a business perspective I am sure they are absolutely raking in the money with these schemes.

Last summer my girlfriends kid was at the courts all day every day. This summer, kid is playing fortnite every day all night. Hope at least someone on his varsity team is working out a little.

So I was hungover and bored on Sunday, so I downloaded it on my phone. All of a sudden 6 hours was gone. Playing on the phone is tough, I tried to download it on my 360, but it's not out for that. The boy took his xboxone to his dads for the week.
I think if it was winter, I'd really be hooked. Not too many Alaskan summer days should be wasted on video games.
