There are two elite teams at the top, and beneath them are a yawnfest of mediocrity?

Not a bad analogy. Hoops may have 3 elite teams, though. Although one of them will lose in the first or second round as usual (I'm looking at you, Panthers).

Syracuse just does what it does... that being, carry the water of whatever conference we're in.

Original Big East.
Expanded Big East.
New Big East.
New New Big East.
New Ultra-Expanded ACC.

All the same. SU at the top.

Time will tell!! Can't judge a team by just the games in the beginning.

1. UNC is still without McDonald and Hairston. They are struggling at the point guard position with freshman Britt. They have no backup with the two suspended.
2. Pitt- only other team undefeated hasn't played a challenging team yet (Stanford is the best)
3. Duke- has lost two games to top 10 teams Arizona and Kansas at neutral sites.
4. Virginia- only loss to VCU
5. Notre Dame- only loss to Larry Bird who shot 55% from 3.
6. Florida State- two close losses to Florida and Michigan.

That is 7 teams with SU that are pretty strong and can do some damage once the season gets rolling!

Clemson doesn't look too bad. They're 6-1 with their only loss against UMass. Should add a little depth to the league.

Won't know anything about Pitt until they play Cincy in NYC. That will be the first real test. I thought Stanford would put up a better fight but that game was a whooping. This is not your typical Pitt team. They are actually pushing the ball more and it could be the best shooting team under Dixon. Only time will tell though because they have not been tested yet. The OOC schedule is pretty poor but they are blowing everyone out so far.
