What a masterful defensive game plan .. his stock mst be off the charts

Nope he has 2 million reasons to stay for the next 3 years and I would not be shocked if they didn't offer him another extension and pay bump.
Plus I believe his son is on the team and another one just committed to the team.

This board a million years back when P and Jake were here, somehow Venable's name was associated with SU if Jake were to replace P. Remember thinking who the heck is that guy...

No. His son will be at Clemson as he was offered a scholarship and makes a HCs salary as a D-Coordinator.

Obviously everyone is different, but I feel like some guys just want to coach football (which is what being a high-paid coordinator allows you to do), but don't want to essentially have to be a politician also which being the head coach at a major football program requires.

Nailed it.

He may eventually but I don't think it's soon. He's got a great gig at Clemson without having to manage a program. I think he only entertains a top 15 job at this point.

To me, he seems like the exact guy that is perfect as a corrdinator that would flame out as a head coach. I just don't see his sideline demeanor working as the head guy. He is right where he belongs.
Everyone always speculates that top coordinators, like Venables, will be head coaches. There are a lot of top coordinators who are perfectly happy being coordinators. They see each day how HCs have to operate, and many just don't want to do that. IDK if Venables wants to be a HC or not, but the HC money he's being paid is a great incentive to stay at Clemson.

He's not leaving Dabo, as others have said he's paid like a HC for his coordinator job. Now with his sons there he's def not going anywhere, they will give him another pay bump and all will be well in Death Valley.

It certinanly helps when your being paid "CEO money" to not perform CEO duties.

Just asking didnt know his son was there .. great replies thanks

Dabo is under 50. That’s nuts. Is he the next Paterno-esque Coach? Like retires from Clemson at 70-80 years old?

Unless Bama comes calling... although now I’m not so sure he makes that jump anymore. He’s got a great gig at Clemson.

He’s not leaving. Things would need to start going south/weird a la Jimbo Fisher. I just don’t see that happening.

Amazing coach. Love his aggressiveness and won’t stop being that way. Ummm coach ward, calling Coach ward.

when he ran 4 times inside the 5 in a tight formation, I said right then and there to my wife, bring on Maryland

Clemson’s first stand holding them to a FG made me giddy. They were running it down their their throat. Got cute and had the false start and then some stupid play Clemson easily stuffed. There’s a reason he’s 3-31 as a head coach.

Was Locksley calling the plays? I don't think he's the OC.
