Duke, Virginia, SMU, Vandy, Vermont Women Cancel Season

Last season the ACC fully planned to finish playing the ACC tournament. All the schools had a vote before it started and agreed. It was all about unity.

Then Duke got cold feet and pulled out. It was decided it would look awful for the conference to keep playing with one of the schools out, so once Duke pulled out, the conference tournament was cancelled shortly afterwards.

I suspect the same thing is going to happen here, except with the women and conference play. And if the women end conference play, it is inevitable that the men will do the same shortly afterwards.

It is very possible SU played its last game of the season against UB, and that game and the fallout that happened after the positive test is going to cause the whole conference season to be cancelled.

I think the season is holding on by a thread right now. Ugh. Way to go Buffalo.

They might have been the straw that broke the hoops season camel’s back.
