He plays with total abandon. He is a fun player to watch and to root for.

Unfortunately, that translates to playing dumb in terms of his own body. I have never seen a QB play and do so little to protect himself since the Joe Kapp days. It must be some sort of a macho thing with him. It is not bad luck that his season's always end early.

The blurred vision could very well have come from a couple of the plays where he took blows to the head and not a finger to the eye as is the present "company" line.

There were two head hits in particular that i remember. One was a late hit, so not his fault. he seemed Ok after that one. The other was when he just lowered his head went into a d player helmut first and ended up being flipped and landing on his head. He has got to be smarter than that. Plenty of other plays where he took or even initiated contact. i do not remember a single slide he took in the game. maybe none in his entire career.

Anyways, it would not surprise me if he misses a week or two and DiVito takes the job ala Lou Gehrig.

DiVito has earned the start against UConn. No need to rush eric back.

We will need Dungey before this season is through, but for his own safety, his PT needs to be limited.

Not sure if ED had enough talent to be drafted, but that will not happen in large part because of his injury history.

I do have to say Dungey slide down 2x that i saw but I know in his mind he wanted to Mr. Miogi the guy coming at him. It was a I don’t wanna slide but I have to type deal. Lol

If Dungey slid more, he'd probably just get popped in the head more. Like the personal foul that ended his game.

I think at this point he'd rather separate his shoulder, so he leads with that.

He looked really beat up yesterday.

I watched the game on TV. The doctor actually checked ED and apparently cleared him because he jumped up and put his helmet back on and stood next to HCDB for the last series of the first half.

ED didn't come out for the 2nd half because of blurring vision due to getting poked in the eye. I hope he doesn't have a detached retina.

Yep was cleared right in front of me.

I am watching the replay right now. I was at the Dome and didn't see him grab his elbow on the first series. It is pretty evident that something is hurting in his right arm after seeing that. He was also clenching and unclenching his right hand most of the first half. I really hope he either sits or only plays a half next week.

Or. he simply got poked in the eye at the bottom of a dogpile.

Sorry for my emotional response in the game thread. I think you know I enjoy you as a poster

Same. No worries. I don’t take anyone seriously in the game threads. It’s just a bunch of H0T Takes.

You could see his arms get progressively more bruised as the game wore on.

It was reported that he had a rubber pellet lodged in his eye, and had played a few snaps with it before being pulled. He was treated with an eye treatment at halftime that required dialating his pupil, which causes the blurriness, and light sensitivity, hence the "blurred vision", and inability to play the second half.
If you've ever had your eyes diallated, it makes sense. You can't see for crap for hours.

He’s always injured to some degree every season. Im convinced hes proned to injury in his dna. It’s sad and frustrating at the same time! He seems to get hurt in every game of some sorts. It’s like death and taxes and Dungey getting hurt. Maybe he shouldn’t play anymore for his own personal health.

Very logical explanation. Thank you

I don't see him playing in the NFL. He doesn't have an NFL arm, and no team will take a chance on investing money in a walking crash test dummy. That being said, Eric knows this may be the end of his playing days, and he will play with 110% reckless abandon from here on out.

His arm is stronger than many NFL qb's. He can make all the throws.

I had my pupils dilated last week, and they we're still dilated after 5 hours.

totally theoretically speaking here - I wonder how would he be as a linebacker (has the motor/aggression and the strength maybe) Just crazy talk here (don't mind me)

My grill blew in my face about 10 years ago. Knocked me back 10 yards onto my butt. Singed my hair & eyebrows. Actually, got up & felt fine 5 minutes later. Wife forced me to see an eye specialist because I had blurred vision in one eye. Doctor put an ointment of sorts into both eyes & then pulled small metal filings out of both. I couldn’t see anything for about 6 hours, probably longer.

I watched the first quarter so far on DVR and Dungey appears to have injured his right elbow on a throw at the 13:33 mark. Immediately after releasing the ball he grabs his throwing elbow, jumps in the air in pain, and goes to the bench. He was simply throwing the ball and was not hit by a FSU defender.

I believe Dino’s answer to the media but something is definitely wrong with Dungey elbow.

Yes that was quite obvious to everyone watching.

I haven’t seen it. Who reported it? Makes sense but all I’ve seen reported is getting poked in the eye.

First thing I thought (hoped?) was tendonitis. Hopefully that's all it is (and not something more serious).
