Based on OOC play, our best competition looked to be Duke, UNC and Florida State. All lost their first conference game...

Gonna be a weird year.

Despite the records, that conference gives me the shakes. Most, if not all, of those teams will continue to play better as the season goes on. Especially Duke, UNC, Wake, Pitt, NC St and Virginia. That is one hell of a lineup of basketball.

I was wondering if our current perception that the ACC is weak is because we are on top? I noticed that a couple years ago when we were either #1 or 2 in the country for the entire season (cursed be Fab's name!). I thought the BE was rather soft that year because I wasn't afraid of any of the teams! It's a psychological thing. It's also hard to respect our new conference when Duke and Carolina are having such "weird" years.

Yet, this could also turn around in a flash. That could start when we play at Va Tech, notorious for their upsetting abilities at home. And Carolina seems to play better when they are the underdog, as they will be for our game on Saturday. As Tom said - "WEIRD!"

Go SU!

Boston College has to be the most disappointing team in the country. They were preseason #8 in the ACC which was NCAA tournament bubble worthy and they are 4-11 with 2 ACC home losses to Maryland and Clemson. They play absolutely no defense they are like the old Providence teams with Keno Davis. They can score, but can't defend.

Agreed. Can't wait to play them!!!

Strange scheduling for BC, they have 6 home games and 5 road games so far.

You probably have to go back decades to find a year when both Duke and UNC each lost their first conference game. Maybe never? But anyone who thinks these two aren't a major threat to beat us is delusional.

I saw a stat roll by somewhere, it has only happened once before in 1994.

Duke/North Carolina have both lost their opening ACC game 1 time prior to this season in the 1994-1995 season when Coach K had surgery and left Duke depleted and North Carolina lost its ACC opener @NC State. Notre Dame is a tough place to win a road game and they executed their gameplan to perfect. Any team with a good inside game can eat Duke up. North Carolina is the most schizo team in the country. They play to the level of their competition which makes this Saturday's game with them really scary. If they had a better in-game coach they would be the best team in the country. Roy Williams is good at getting talent for this system, but his teams are always undisciplined and unless they have a mature PG struggle to execute his system. Give Roy a PG and his teams are unbelievable.
