Favorite/Least Favorite Plays Today

First, I'd like to say that the crowd was awesome today. I missed hearing the "Oh!" during the National Anthem but, for not having the students there, the Dome was rockin'.

Favorite Plays:

1) Cooney's first three to start the run after just missing the two before it. Duh.

2) Keita's dime to Gbinije under the basket from the three point line. I talked to my dad for like 5 possessions after it happened about how awesome it was.

3) Gbinije running over Archydiackanonano. I shouldn't like this play because it's a cardinal sin to foul a 3pt shooter, but I loved every second of it.

4) Cooney hustling back and throwing the ball out of bounds off of the defender.

5) One of Fair's corner threes that he nailed late in the shot clock because the defender dared him to shoot it.

Least Favorite:

1) Gbinije not shooting that wide open three in the first half. Earned him a spot on the bench for 3 seconds.

2) Coleman getting ripped again as he was going up for a putback either early in the run or before the run began. He did all that work to grab the offensive board and then screwed it all up.

3) The stretch of bad calls by the black ref (I have no other way to identify him). I'm sure some of them were possibly correct calls, but he was so demonstrative when he called them that it felt like he was flipping us all off. Reminded me a lot of Crawford in the NBA. Make bad calls -- your a ref, it's expected -- but don't be such a about it.

So, those are mine. What were your faves?

The refs name is Mike Stevens and he was terrible.

He graduated from Tim Higgins School for Basketball Referees and the Mentally Impaired.

Ennis had one brilliant drive, crossing over and finishing with a reverse after cutting through the lane that was a thing of absolute beauty.

That was my favorite play.

Ennis missed a break away. Not a big deal, but making break aways gives us a psychological advantage.

favorite plays were CJ's 360 spin move in the lane and the old man ennis scoop shot going to the hoop..my favorite as a youth at the Sunnycrest Courts and as a CYO legend
And
My least favorite play was x 4...for fouls for Grant.. IMO as Cuse gets into ACC play it is imperative that he learns to limit his fouls so he can play freely in the last 8 minutes and not worry about fouling out.

Favourite - unfortunately he missed the basket, but the Ennis drive in the lane with the 360 for the attempted layup. Man, if that would have gone in - WOW!

Least favourite - several turnovers by CJ due to the consistent double team. Really tough to criticize this kid, but that is something other teams will be looking at. He will no doubt get it figured out for the future.

The problem I saw with at least 2 (maybe 3) of those double teams is no one else came over to help CJ out by giving him an outlet to pass to.
On one of the double teams, I thought CJ should have called a time out before they tied him up.

Favorite. The play where I believe Ennis passed to cooney and he could have shot the three but he passed to fair in the corner for three. Liked the smart ball movement.

Least. Colman dropping that rebound down and getting stripped

Honorable mention. Fair going for the rim rocking poster dunk getting fouled. He dunks that and we register on the Richter scale

Favorite
1.) 2 plays in one( back to back 3's from CJ then Trevor during the "run") I thought the roof was going to blow off the dome
2.) Might now seem like much but the high low from Jerami to Rock who sealed the defender perfectly and nova had nothing to stop the dunk but grab him (more of that to come this season)

Least
1.) Hard to knock CJ for anything but he had a number of turnovers just from being loose with the ball vs. double teams

A lot of those already mentioned.

Also:

Most - Grant's defensive rebounding, especially in the first half (awesome). Ennis's ability to square himself and finish in the lane early in the second (nice improvement; more to come?).

Least - Fair's awful 16-footer with 21 on the shot clock late in the game, after Ennis had passed up a layup and Cooney passed up an open three. Yuck. He's got the senior green light, I guess.
