The IGGY AWARDS COMMITTEE knows that everyone has been holding their breath after this wonderful season to see if they have won a coveted IGGY AWARD. Once again, the committee is meeting prior to the end of the ACC Tournament and prior to the announcement of the NCAA brackets. Not what was expected but definitely something to think about when deciding on categories for next year.

Thank you all that participated. This was not an easy season to predict, and us fans, for the most part, overrated how we thought the season was going to go. It's too bad, because we deserve better. Spoiled for 50 years, and we knew it's never easy to follow a legend, and the program was already in a downward spiral, but we do deserve better. And as the fans of every team except for the eventual winner likes to say, Wait until next year!!!

Let's get to the winners. First, here are the categories, in case you forgot.

THIS YEAR'S CATEGORIES

1) ACC RECORD. We are scheduled for 20 regular season games.
2) OUT OF CONFERENCE RECORD. We are scheduled for eleven out of conference games.
3) ACC TOURNAMENT RECORD. We could play anywhere from one to five games.
4) NCAA TOURNAMENT. First four play-in games do not count. If you do not feel we will make the NCAAT then put 0-0.
5) LEADING SCORER. List the player and average points per game.
6) LEADING REBOUNDER: List the players and rebounds per game.
7) WHO WILL MAKE THE MOST THREES THIS YEAR AND HOW MANY?
8) TIEBREAKER #1: WHAT SEED WILL SYRACUSE BE FOR THE ACC TOURNAMENT
9) TIEBREAKER #2: FOR WHAT TEAM WILL KIYAN ANTHONY BE PLAYING BASKETBALL FOR DURING THE 2025-2026 SEASON? Note: If a decision is made prior to 11/4/24 then this question will be removed by the IGGY AWARDS COMMITTEE.

1) ACC Record: 7-13

Absoloutely no one saw this carnage coming. Except one miserable soul (just kidding!!!) who correctly predicted an ACC record of 7-13. So, congrats to Kirbivore on winning the 1st IGGY AWARD of 2025.

2) OUT OF CONFERENCE RECORD: 6-5

The closest anyone came to 6-5 was a couple people who picked 7-4. The IGGY AWARD COMMITTEE decided that because of the price of imports due to the additional tariffs being levied, the IGGY AWARD for Out Of Conference record will not be awarded this year.

3) ACC TOURNAMENT RECORD: 1-1

There was something like 27 people who picked 1-1. Nice job everyone, and you know who you are. Four of them also predicted 0-0 for the NCAA Tournament record (assuming we don't get a bid Sunday night-LOL). Three of the four also picked JJ to be the leading scorer, so the IGGY AWARD COMMITTEE went with the closest to his actual point per game total. The IGGY AWARD COMMITTEE is proud to award the next IGGY AWARD to Sutomcat. Congrats!!!

4) NCAA TOURNAMENT RECORD: 0-0

We can call this the John Belushi Award. 0-0 is no way to go through the college basketball tournament season. We had about 10 people who chose 0-0. Great job all of you for correctly predicting that number. They say one is the loneliest number, but I think 0-0 is, when all the good teams are dancing, and we are standing against the wall holding our xxxx. So, of the ten who predicted 0-0, we are going to tiebreaker #1 and the closest to the ACC Tournament Seed with a prediction of 13th, congratulations, and his second IGGY AWARD of the evening, goes to Kirbivore.

5) LEADING SCORER: JJ 17.8 PPG

A lot of people chose Chris Bell. That didn't happen. Unfortunately. The season might have gone a different direction is Bell had a good year. Of all the people who chose JJ, the closest with a prediction of 18.0 points per game, is Bomber Orange. Congrats!!!

6: LEADING REBOUNDER: EDDIE 9.6

Again, almost no one saw this coming. Yes, a bunch of people picked Eddie, but more people chose Donnie, who was actually leading at the halfway point, and I believe one person picked Naheem. Eddie had some big games, so he deserves the title. The closest anyone picked was 8.2, a full 1.4 rebounds less per game, but it still earns him an IGGY AWARD. So, congrats to Orlando Cuse for the winning prediction.

7) Most Threes: Chris Bell 47

If you want to talk about how bad a season an individual player or team had, we only need to look at Chris Bell. He went from a pretty good season last year, 84/200 from 3, 42% to this season of 47/133 for .353%. And played 5.5 less minutes per game. Everyone figured with Judah moving on, that Bell would be more featured on offense, but for many reasons, we know it didn't happen. Chris Bell happens to be my wife's favorite player, so in my house, there has been a lot of conversations surrounding Chris Bell.

So, most people predicted Chris Bell, but basically every prediction was between 90 and 122 made threes. Wow. But we had one person, who was the closest, pick 74. The IGGY AWARDS COMMITTEE found out that a reversed mirror number, like 47 and 74, actually stands for something in the spiritual world. Like an angel or a higher being is trying to send a message. So, I figure we have a lot to pray for, and if someone wants to send us a message, whether that you are going to take care of SWC, or fix all the problems in the world, and make next season a success, we will accept whatever help we can get.

So, the next IGGY AWARD, and his 2nd IGGY AWARD of 2025 goes to Bomber Orange. Congratulations!!!

The next two categories were both tiebreaker categories, so no IGGY AWARD will be given out. Let's just hope that our seed in the ACC Tournament next year is much better than this year's 14th and let's hope that Kiyan Anthony coming to Syracuse, along with Melo and La La, helps to jump start a program that needs a lot of different pieces right now.

Thanks again for everyone who participated. Congrats to the winners and double winners. See you all next season for the 18th Annual IGGY AWARDS.

Thanks. Can we get the results pinned for a little while?

I feel honored to have won an Iggy in the worst season in Syracusefan.com history. Truly a remarkable feat.
