This would have eventually came out though, correct? I mean the NCAA was/is investigating and would have eventually released a statement on the situation unless it is deemed to be nothing and then maybe it would have never come out?

It may have if there were going to be any retaliation from the NCAA, though I doubt that SU would need to say anything on the matter other than if what comes out is positive for SU. Teams self-report these things all the time and not every punishment becomes as public as this already has
