How many BE teams would you bet, right now, will reach the Sweet 16?

Rules:
Each bet must be for $200+ (to deter you thrill seekers) and the odds are 1-1 (i.e. or even money). You may make as many or few choices as you like. And identify how much you would bet, given those odds, with a max bet of 5,000.

FWIW, at even money, I think we are the only school that even warrants consideration (and its obviously a huge value pick). All the other 15 schools are swimming upstream imo.

I'd bet 3,000 on Cuse and drink a lot before the 3rd round game to numb myself. I'd be tempted to throw 200 on Marquette as I think the DJO/Crowder combo and experience will prove crucial in March, but I'm gonna abstain.

Watch, Pitt saves their season and THIS will be the year they go on a tourney run... just to kill all those folk that used to put them deep in their brackets for years.

2. but i don't know who the 2nd team will be with us. but if i was betting, i would say su and uconn.

Poppy you are the best.

Since we're gonna be double digit faves over any 8/9 second round game I'm gonna lay $5 large on Cuse.

I'll bet $200 on WVU. Best player in the league and big game experience

And I'll bet $200 on UCONN and literally spend the weekend hoping I freaking LOSE the $200

After my last sad experience, I have stopped making this kind of bet. Prior to the '09/10 season, I had seen Wes Johnson in practice throughout his redshirt year, and I believed the team could be very good. I got SU at 65-1, and I bet $1,000. Towards then end of the season, when the odds on SU had dropped to about 3-1, I was already thinking how I would spend my winnings. Then Arinze got hurt.

As they say, can happen.

Mad props on your bet, CTO.

I remember you telling us this in 09/10. Would have been so awesome. What a story you would be able to tell. Sigh...

I would almost make a safe bet and say Pitt isn't even going to the NCAAs this year ... playing Marquette at Marquette ... they could be just sinking deeper into the cellar after tomorrow. They don't need a turn around they need a miracle ... like winning the BE Tourny

Which is exactly why I don't put it past that bunch of a$$holes!!!

Looked up the futures while I was pondering Pitt's present dilemma ... they are still at 25/1

No respect time: SU @ 12/1; Duke @ 12/1; Louisville @ 8/1

In hindsight, betting the max is really like splitting aces. You really have no choice, except the constraints given to you by your fiscal budget. You can't really call yourself a businessman if you shy away from weighted odds. I'm ashamed of myself now.

I think kansas at 20/1 is a great value right now. So tempted to put $50 on them

No way is anyone worth $200 at even odds besides SU. I could probably be coaxed into Georgetown at +110, and WVU and Marq at +130. Right now that is.

Hahahaha. No worries. Unless youre one of those guys that takes insurance and even money on natural black jacks. I always laugh at those guys

I know, I know. Haha. The even money part is tough.

I think Syracuse, WVU and Georgetown. Uconn has a shot as well.

I am very intrigued by Marquette if I can get the opportunity to watch and see how that big mamajama (gardner?) improves. Marquette's problem has always seemed to me that their scrappy style, like a lot of BE teams, plays down in the tourney when outside refs are introduced... and they lack the pure scorers and size to compete once they lose their edge. If Gardner and Crowder can offer a decent size combo, and Mayo emerges as that take-over talent, I like the value.

The problem is that uncertainty in Big East teams is so high right now. A month ago I would have probably been willing to take even money on Lville, Uconn, GTown and Marq, but these days you never who is going to lose to who in the BE.

Dude, good call. I think they will be a force towards the end of the season. Thomas Robinson is a monster. The 7-footer is pretty good. Elijah Johnson is getting better and Releford is a good perimeter player.

I agree, the are a tough team and definitely not someone I would want in my bracket, but to put even money on them today is definitely iffy.

I just received a PM from bees. He specifically said "don't share this" but screw it. He's taking the other side on my $5,400 of action. Remember this when he refuses to pay me. :)
