Welcome to International Left-Handers Day!

International Left-Handers Day celebrates the uniqueness of being left-handed and raises awareness about the inconveniences that those who are left-handed deal with, in a world where ninety percent of people are right-handed. Many tools and objects are designed for right-handed people, and hundreds of millions of left-handers must adapt. Not only are the disadvantages that left-handers face highlighted on the day, but any advantages that they have are also celebrated.

Of the ten percent of people who are left-handed, more are men than women. Many recent presidents have also been left-handed, including Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. Those who are left-handed haven't always risen to such heights of power. Throughout history, left-handed people were considered inferior and were often associated with witchcraft. In Christianity, left is associated with evil, and at the last Judgement, those who are sent to the left are damned. Even a left-handed compliment has a negative connotation, as it is an unflattering compliment.

Former Syracuse basketball player Kris Joseph signs with pro team in Portugal (PS; Waters)

Kris Joseph, the former Syracuse University basketball player, has signed with a pro team in Portugal.

The Portugese team SL Benfica announced that it had signed Joseph on its Twitter page on Monday.
SL Benfica plays in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol. The club is located in Lisbon.

Joseph, a 6-foot-7 forward, played at Syracuse from 2008 to 2012. The Boston Celtics selected him in the second round of the NBA's 2012 draft.

In two brief stints in the NBA, Joseph played for the Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets.

He has played professionally overseas for three different teams in France. He spent this past season with the Niagara River Lions of the Canadian Basketball League.

Joseph joined Boeheim's Army in The Basketball Tournament for the first time this summer. Joseph averaged 2.3 points and 1.3 rebounds in four games with Boeheim's Army.

Dajaun Coleman makes hoops comeback official with Syracuse Stallions (itlh.com; Esden Jr)

Former Syracuse basketball star Dajuan Coleman is making his hoops comeback official. Coleman has signed on with the Syracuse Stallions ABA franchise.

Syracuse basketball fans can rejoice because Dajuan Coleman is returning to the salt city to play hoops. No it isn’t for the Syracuse Orange, it’s for the ABA franchise the Syracuse Stallions.

Over the last several years there’s been multiple attempts to revitalize an ABA franchise in Syracuse, but to no avail. Now the Stallions are hoping to change the narrative.

One way they’re hoping to do that is by adding some real star power to this team and they did that by signing DC to a contract. Few realize that Coleman is only 25 years old and still has a ton of tread left on the tires.

DC was actually with the Orange from 2012-17 and didn’t quite live up to the billing. Coleman was a McDonald’s All-American and he was destined to be a special NBA talent, but his knees had other plans. Those chronic knee injuries derailed what could’ve been a prominent career in Orange. Now he’s making a comeback under his own terms.

Florida State Basketball: Analyzing the Seminoles’ rotation for 2018-19 (bustingbrackets.cmo; Freeman)

Due to how head coach Leonard Hamilton uses his rotations for Florida State Basketball, expect a lot of players to get minutes for the 2018-19 season.

It was another successful campaign for Florida State Basketball, making it to the NCAA Tournament with a surprising run to the Elite Eight. The Seminoles athleticism and overall size were able to overwhelm the non-ACC teams not familiar with them, a trait that can give the program the ability to eventually compete with the league’s powerhouses, Duke and North Carolina.

It was a balanced effort all throughout the season, with 10 different players averaging in double figures in scoring, with nine of them getting at least 6.5 ppg. Florida State had an incredibly deep bench and wasn’t even able to give playing time to a few quality recruits from the 2017 class.

The roster for the Seminoles did go through some changes this offseason. Starter CJ Walker and 7’0 center Ike Obiagu decided to transfer out of the program, while Albany grad transfer David Nichols made the move to join them.

Florida State was supposed to lose the team’s two leading scorers from last season in Braian Angola-Rodas and Phil Cofer. Then the NCAA gave the team great news in that Cofer would have a sixth-year of eligibility, making him eligible to play for 2018-19.

For this piece, I’ll be taking a look at how the seven returning Seminoles along with Nichols will be utilized. Keep in mind, the underclassmen also have a case to make when it comes to crashing the main rotation. That’ll all be addressed soon.
