Syracuse Basketball: 5-star Benny Williams top 20 in final Rivals rankings (itlh; Adler)
Syracuse basketball 2021 commit Benny Williams is a top-20 player nationally within his class, according to one of the primary recruiting services.
recently unveiled its final national ratings for the top-150 prospects in the 2021 recruiting cycle, and Williams is highly placed in these rankings.
The 6-foot-8 Williams, a senior at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., is rated as five stars by , as well as No. 18 overall and No. 5 at the small-forward position in his class.
Previously, had Williams at No. 15 nationally, so he fell three spots in the final rankings. Honestly, though, that means little to me.
When the Orange commences its next season in a few months’ time, the team will boast one of its highest-rated recruits in recent program history.
Let that sink in for a second. For the contingent of ‘Cuse fanatics that has been frustrated by the Syracuse basketball recruiting efforts in recent years, Williams will arrive on the Hill as a top-20 player overall in the 2021 cycle and a top-five small forward. That’s pretty good.

Syracuse Basketball: 5-star Jarace Walker recruitment is tough to gauge (itlh; Adler)
Syracuse basketball was one of the first college teams to offer a scholarship to 2022 five-star forward Jarace Walker, with that offer arriving nearly a year ago.
However, since that time, I haven’t read a whole lot of articles or comments from recruiting insiders that speak to much buzz between the Orange and the 6-foot-8 Walker, who is a junior at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
By all accounts, Walker had a relatively strong junior term for the IMG Academy, which ended the most recent campaign as a top-five squad nationally, per rankings from MaxPreps.
Then again, it appears that perhaps some analysts aren’t super confident in projecting where Walker will land, as he prepares for his senior year at the IMG Academy.
With high-school players able to soon take official visits to college campuses, one thing I’m curious about is which teams Walker may possibly eye for such visits.
Walker, who is ranked a top-10 prospect across the country in the 2022 cycle by the majority of recruiting services, has a range of scholarship offers from high-major groups at this juncture.
According to his bio on several recruiting Web sites, the last offer to Walker came from blue-blood team and fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member North Carolina in October of 2020.

Three former Syracuse players will compete in the NBA Playoffs hoping to get a championship ring. Take a look at who is still playing and what seed their respective teams earned.
Carmelo Anthony - Portland Trail Blazers
Anthony and the Blazers avoided the play-in tournament and finished with the six seed in the Western Conference. The Blazers will face the Denver Nuggets, the team that drafted Carmelo, in the first round. The series begins this coming weekend. Anthony averaged 13.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game off the bench this season.
Oshae Brissett - Indiana Pacers
The Pacers finished 34-38 and in ninth place in the Eastern Conference. Brissett has started the last 20-plus games after signing a three year deal with the team. He capped a strong regular season with a career high 31 points in the finale. As the nine seed, Indiana is headed to the play-in tournament and will face the 10th seeded Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday, May 18th. In order to advance, the Pacers must win that game and then win again against the loser of the seven seed vs eight seed matchup (Boston Celtics vs Washington Wizards).

Syracuse Basketball: Mike Hopkins gets into mix for five-star Dior Johnson (itlh; Adler)
Five-star point guard Dior Johnson, one of the top players in the 2022 class, de-committed from Syracuse basketball last November, but he could have an Orange connection potentially in his future.
The 6-foot-3 Johnson, a junior at Corona Centennial High School in Corona, Calif., has landed a scholarship offer from Washington, which is led by former long-time ‘Cuse assistant coach Mike Hopkins.
Johnson disclosed this offer via his Twitter page. He also recently said on Twitter that fellow Pac-12 Conference member Oregon has offered him a scholarship.
From a recruiting standpoint, things have appeared relatively quiet for Johnson since he re-opened his recruiting process late last year. Since de-committing from Syracuse basketball, he hadn’t received any new offers until the ones from Washington and Oregon, at least as far as I can tell from looking at his bio on various recruiting Web sites.
A native of Saugerties, N.Y., Johnson is viewed by most recruiting services as a top-five overall prospect in his class, as well as the No. 1 point guard in the 2022 cycle.
In looking at various recruiting Web sites, other offers that Johnson currently owns are from teams such as Alabama, LSU, Georgia Tech, Arizona State, Memphis, Ole Miss, Nebraska, St. John’s and TCU.

Amazon opens delivery station in DeWitt; what it means for Central New York customers (PS; $; Moriarty)
Amazon has opened a last-mile delivery center in DeWitt, a move that will allow the e-commerce giant to ship products to its Central New York customers more quickly.
Amazon said the 112,000-square-foot delivery station at 6834 Kirkville Road will create more than 100 full- and part-time associate jobs, all paying at least $15 per hour, in addition to hundreds of independent contractors in the company’s Delivery Service Partners and Amazon Flex driver programs.
To celebrate the launch, the company made a $1,500 donation to the DeWitt Rotary Club’s Spring Basket Fundraiser, which supports local families and youth programs within the East Syracuse area.
Amazon also opened a 56,222-square-foot delivery station in Carle Place on Long Island.
Amazon operates more than 150 delivery stations around the country and is building more to advance its goal of delivering products to Amazon Prime members within one day and, for some popular products, on the same day they are ordered.
“We want to get as close to the customer as possible to ensure we can offer fast, efficient shipping speeds,” said Jenna Hilzenrath, a spokesperson for Amazon.
The stations in DeWitt and Carle Place are designed to accommodate Amazon’s planned fleet of electric delivery vehicles.
“Ranging from the physical layout to the electrical design, we are optimizing these spaces to offer flexibility and scale as we move closer toward putting 10,000 electric delivery vehicles on the road in 2022,” the company said.
Work started on the 42-acre site in DeWitt near Interstate 481 in July.

I’m sure that some Orange fans don’t care all that much about Johnson’s new offers, and I totally respect that.
