College basketball betting expert Adam Trigger is prepped for the 2024-25 college basketball season to begin, giving his team previews before action tips off in November! In this installment he looks at the Syracuse Orange men's basketball team giving his picks and predictions for the regular season!
Former Syracuse basketball manager has a key role on Gerry McNamara's Siena staff (PS; TNS; Singelais)
Ryan Beaury was celebrating his graduation from Hadley-Luzerne High School in 2017 when his Uncle Brian approached him.
Enrolling at Syracuse that fall, Ryan Beaury knew he had no future playing for the Orange. But he wanted to be involved in the basketball program. Brian, the longtime head coach at the College of Saint Rose, had a connection there.
“It was my graduation party, (Brian) tells me, ‘Hey, if you still want to be a manager at Syracuse, I know somebody there,” Ryan Beaury recalled.
That somebody was Gerry McNamara, the Syracuse playing great who was then an Orange assistant. With a couple of phone calls, Brian Beaury was able to get his nephew a job as a student manager.
“He got me going, got my foot in the door,” Ryan Beaury said. “So it’s just a full-circle moment, every single day.”
The full circle has come to completion at Siena College under McNamara, the new Saints coach. Ryan Beaury is Siena’s director of basketball operations and shares an office with Brian, the special assistant to McNamara.
When McNamara was hired in March, Ryan Beaury wanted to move closer to home and advance his career after spending seven years with Syracuse — four as a manager, two as a graduate assistant and last year as video coordinator.
Meanwhile, Brian Beaury was unemployed and looking for work after the College of Saint Rose announced its closure this year.
“I enjoy working with (Ryan) a great deal,” Brian said. “He’s an extremely talented, hard-working young man. The staff, myself included, relies on him for a lot of things, as do the players and the administrators. He’s really a Swiss Army knife.”
The biggest adjustment for Ryan is no longer calling his co-worker “Uncle Brian.”

After $1 million expansion, Ronald McDonald House of CNY now has room for 33 families (PS; Duffie)
The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central New York recently opened six new family suites on its fourth floor, a million-dollar expansion that marks the final step of nearly 20 years of planning and fundraising.
The latest addition means the Syracuse charity can offer more free, temporary living spaces to families whose children are receiving medical treatment at Syracuse-area hospitals.
Four one-bedroom suites and two two-bedroom suites with space for additional guests were added to the top floor of the house on East Genesee Street.
Now, the house can accommodate 33 families at once.
“Our previous home was two old homes joined together,” said Beth Trunfio, executive director of the charity. “So when we built this house we built it with an unfinished fourth floor in anticipation that at some point in time there would be a need to grow.”
The expansion will provide space for multigenerational families with unique needs, providing space for parents who work remotely or extra space for children who are immunocompromised.
“We’ve always strived to keep families together,” she said. “Having more space to be able to live comfortably as though they’re in their own home was really an important opportunity for us.”
The project cost $1.1 million, including $200,000 from in-kind donations from vendors for furniture, televisions, artwork and electrical work, Trunfio said.
Private bathrooms, handicap accessibility, guest rooms and laundry facilities are available for guests during their stay.
The organization plans to launch a hospitality cart at Crouse Hospital in the coming months for families with babies in the neonatal intensive care unit.
