WATCH: ACC Football's Top 5 Wide Receivers (herosports.com; Wright)

The Clemson Tigers may have lost Mike Williams to the NFL, but the current National Champions are still well represented on this top 5 list of the best wide outs in the ACC. Clemson fans will love to see cult hero Hunter Renfrow (#3) and the uber talented Deon Cain (#2) both making the grade, with only Ahmmon Richards of Miami ranking ahead of the teammates after a sensational freshman season.

Syracuse Carrier Dome Renovation Project is a Big Mess With No End in Sight (herosports.com; Labar)

The Syracuse University Carrier Dome is one of the more unique and recognizable venues in college sports. The nearly 50,000-seat indoor stadium was considered state-of-the-art when it was remodeled back in 2003, but many Syracuse fans have voiced their displeasure over the home of five different Orange sports teams, particularly when it comes to football.

Syracuse athletic director John Wildhack has been hinting at an eventual Carrier Dome renovation for several years now -- yet the project seems to get stalled as quickly as it is brought up.

I struggle to understand how programs like Kansas can suddenly announce they are going all-in with a $300 million renovation to their stadium which will include a new indoor facility, yet 'Cuse keeps making excuses. Virginia -- another ACC program that has struggled with football in recent history -- is also on the verge of adding a shiny, new $40 million football operations center.

In today's college football landscape -- facilities might as well be considered gold. So how far is Syracuse from breaking ground and turning the tide?

Wildhack fielded questions from fans during the school's No-Huddle event last Thursday in Albany and offered little clarity into the progress.

"We're looking at a variety of options for the Dome," Wildhack told Syracuse.com. "We are deep in the due dilligence phase. It's an incredibly complex project and what makes it that way is it's home to five of our sports... and other university functions We don't want to disrupt any of the seasons for any of those five sports.

Football looks forward to new facilities (cavalierdaily.com; Marston)

In the Atlantic Coast Conference, football operations buildings range in age and quality, from Georgia Tech’s 35 year old stadium annex with a handful of offices and scattered weights, to Clemson’s months old, glorified amusement park. To an uninvolved fan, the modern monoliths being constructed may seem unnecessary, but to a potential coach or recruit, it can make the difference between committing to a school and hanging championship banners or taking their talents to the rival’s campus.

Unfortunately for the Virginia football program, the latter has happened more and more often in the recent years.

During his introductory press conference on Dec. 7, 2015, new Virginia football coach Bronco Mendenhall made it clear to the University and the fans that the amenities and tools he had at his disposal met neither his nor potential recruits’ standards.

“A football building is absolutely necessary to dedicate or to show our dedication that we’re serious,” Mendenhall said.

The university listened.

SU grad raises $94K for police cameras in university neighborhood (PS; Baker)

For his final project at Syracuse University, Alex Lynch studied crime in the student-heavy University Hill neighborhood. Now, a year after graduating, he's raised enough money to do something about it.

Lynch raised $94,000 from landlords and student groups to purchase and install eight security cameras throughout the University Hill neighborhood.

The cameras will target high-crime portions of the neighborhood where burglaries and theft are most common. They will be stationed around Euclid Avenue between Comtock Avenue and Westcott Street, including one at the corner of Euclid and Westcott.

Syracuse police data shows a total of 2,556 reported crimes in that area between 2013 and 2015. That includes 1,195 larcenies, 480 burglaries, 60 aggravated assaults, 19 rapes and one murder.

Lynch conducted a student survey in 2015 that showed 84 percent of SU students felt safe walking on campus at night, while 82 percent of students felt unsafe walking off campus at night.

SU has 1,100 security cameras on campus, according to a recent report from The Daily Orange.

I get the frustration but I don't know why it is such a struggle to understand how the state of Kansas can spend $300M but private university is having trouble with it.

Huh? Wildhack was hired a year ago.

Also, Kansas sees the great uncertainty coming when the B12 GOR expires circa 2023. When that happens, there is a good chance a few B12 schools will leave for other P5 conferences and the others will suddenly suffer an awful drop to the world outside P5.

Kansas is trying to position itself to it can find a P5 home if the B12 implodes. Good move by them.

Kansas can afford bells and whistles, they are a state university with the money to do it.

From the D.O. - ( the most important Dome info is the last sentence)

Last May 2016, the university announced it will replace the Carrier Dome’s air-supported roof with a new fixed roof, along with other renovations. The new roof will cost $105 million. With the $50 million overhaul of Archbold Gymnasium to become the “Arch” and $100 million Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility and mobility upgrades in both the Dome and Archbold, the total cost will be $255 million. Kevin Quinn, senior vice president of public affairs, said at the time there was currently no timeline for the replacement of the Dome roof.

However, you can’t build or renovate anything without the funding to do it and I understand that’s where we are regarding the Dome. Why the project was announced when it was is a mystery. It’s too bad because it got everyone excited but we have nothing to show for it and nothing for recruits to view either.

BINGO!!!!

Trying to stir up some hype? And some donors?
Maybe they thought getting it out there would get wealthy alumni and corporate sponsors to throw $ at them, and it clearly hasn't happened yet to date.

We can tell recruits and everyone else that Dome reno plans are going to happen at some point in the future.
That's not nothing.
And there are those 'artist's renderings' etc. to show folks.

Now - that some point may be after they retire and are on Social Security:p , but it's still going to happen, someday.
