I do not post much but love reading except Jim's coaching job last night was tremendous. The score was 53-49 and Pitt had whittled the lead down from 14 points. Jim called timeout and set up a specific play with Kris setting a pick in the middle of the Pitt zone. After setting the pick he drifted out to the three point line and was wide open and made a three on a pass from Scoop. The next two times they ran the same set and should have resulted in a dunk from Fab and on the third time the ball was faked to Kris rotated to Dion for a three on the opposite side.

Jim is a brilliant coach and gets a tremendous amount of credit for the zone but should also be recognized for his offensive playcalling.

We are really going to miss him someday.

Go Orange.

I watched the huddle from my seat and actually borrowed a pair of binocs from a guy next to me and specifically watched that exact huddle during the timeout. I could see JB literally drawing up that exact play and communicating scoop, dion and kris specifically. I told my wife that they were designing a play for Kris and bam it worked to perfection.

I agree we will miss him.

He has been the best offensive coach in college for 30+ years. He turned Moten into the best scorer in BE history. He takes guys with limited talents and gets them them in position to score. We almost always get a good shot on set in bounds plays.

Not to hijack the thread for evil purposes, but once again I was amazed at how well coached the Pitt team was. Their zone offense was picture perfect and only lost because they couldn't make layups or free throws. The Cuse is way better than Pitt but easily could have lost that game.

With that said I ing hate playing Pitt because they're a bunch of goons and the Refs let them hack, slash, and check the entire game. I can see the entire team fouling out once they get to the ACC and get new Refs (much like their tourney experiences).

JB has long been a great coach on offense. It is only in the last decade or so that he rewrote how to run a zone defense. I agree, he deserves credit for both.

What makes JB such a good offensive coach is that he adjusts to the offensive talents and strengths of his players. Our offense changes due to the people we have and this year it changes depending on who's in the game. He isn't trying to get different players to run the same offensive system every year. Also he lets his good offensive players play for much of the game, we have a game plan sure but he allows offensive players flexibility and opertunity to make plays.

NO ONE has ever coached offense like JB coaches offense. The most brilliant mind in the game. If you pressed Coach K in an interview, he'd probably say the same. All of these coaches learn from JB.

i must say it did not sound like any of the three amigos were thrilled with JB's stall ball tactics at the 6 minute mark.
