A cheapie "Nashville Tele" copy; $89, on sale a few years back. Swapped out the neck for one that has a maple fret board and a flatter radius. String it with Ernie Ball 9-46.

It's a Schecter Tempest. Gold top. Only have ever seen one, and I bought it. Sounds and plays like a Les Paul.

Well, in a gold top, it is. Have seen a number of them on various auction sites, and guitar center, in black, white, and cherry sunburst. Would love to get one in cherry sunburst, but each one I've seen has had a mismatched top, some more horridly so than others.

Highly recommend a DAW. Especially if you write. You can get em for $100, but as a drummer, you'll need more inputs. IIRC, you can download all the Rock Band tracks, and eliminate the instruments you don't want, if you are a play along guy. I'm lucky enough to still have a full group of friends to play with, weekly.
