That is all.
I'm a Le Moyne grad and never gave much thought as to why a Dolphin was chosen as the mascot. I also never understood how an institution founded and run by Jesuits, and at face value overly concerned with the importance of a rigorous foundation in ethics in an effort to develop moral character, was filled with people so ready to indulge in decadence and debauchery (Dolphy Day is actually a poor example in my experience).

And Dolphy day is not about "decadence and debauchery". It's about letting loose and having fun. Decadence and debauchery? Are you sure you went to Le Moyne?
Not many people know this, but Dolphy Day was named after Gimme a Break actor Dolph Sweet.

“There is a celebration held at Le Moyne College based on a Frank Zappa song, "The Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbecue," inspired by him.” This is included in Eric Dolphy’s bio. Eric Dolphy was a jazz musician who died in 1964 from a diabetic coma and Frank Zappa wrote a song in his memory in 1966. Dolphy Day at Lemoyne was first celebrated in 1971.Not many people know this, but Dolphy Day was named after Gimme a Break actor Dolph Sweet.
