I can understand how Marvin wouldn't get in. He was a fantastic player in college, one of the best I have ever seen, but he didn't get many touches.
I wonder if they'll unconsciously-award his NFL career hereWonder if they'll hold Marvin's post-football behavior against him.

Harrison was the the 19th player selected in the 1996 draft. He must have done something in college to get that kind of recognition.Freeney will absolutely get in, just a matter of when. Marvin, as Tomcat alluded to above, just didn't get the ball enough to have eye catching stats, but he was a stud at SU, maybe voters will realize this but not sure.
Yes I am aware, I was at that draft yelling when inferior WRs like Eddie Kennison were going before him! I think he is quite worthy so hopefully these voters agreeHarrison was the the 19th player selected in the 1996 draft. He must have done something in college to get that kind of recognition.
Here was a list from 6 years ago... I'm sure a few have been added since?Would he be the first player to make it to the NFL HOF but not the college version? Excuse the ignorance I’ve not heard of the college football hall of fame before

Here, here.I can understand how Marvin wouldn't get in. He was a fantastic player in college, one of the best I have ever seen, but he didn't get many touches.
Dwight was the best player in the country his senior season. And damn good before that.
If you are the best player in the country for at least one season, you belong in the hall of fame. IMHO.
I don't think there is a question as to whether Marvin's ability was enough for him to get in. The question is whether his stats are good enough. Of course, that had more to do with our style of offense than how good he was. As other teams were going more pro oriented and pass happy, we were more conservative. Pro scouts can see beyond that as they did with McNabb in the '99 draft. A number of guys drafted after him had superior stats too.Harrison was the the 19th player selected in the 1996 draft. That's weird. They only played one season together.I remember when asked about Marvin's credentials, coming out of college, Pasqualoni answered with something like: How do you think McNabb set all those SU passing records?
It was the season he had his highest passer rating and his second highest completion percentage. But it was also the year with his fewest attempts and fewest TDs.That's weird. They only played one season together.
You know what's hilarious that shouldn't be?It was the season he had his highest passer rating and his second highest completion percentage. But it was also the year with his fewest attempts and fewest TDs.
Marvin should have been targeted twice as much as he was. It still pisses me off 30 years later.I can understand how Marvin wouldn't get in. He was a fantastic player in college, one of the best I have ever seen, but he didn't get many touches.

It was more about total passing attempts. McNabb had 128 completions on 207 attempts. Harrison got 56 of those completions. The next highest number of completions was 19 to our starting running back. McNabb had almost as many rushing attempts as pass completions.Marvin should have been targeted twice as much as he was. It still pisses me off 30 years later.
Looking back, it's pretty amazing that in 1998 we were 4th in the country in ppg. We averaged twice as many rush attempts as we did pass attempts despite opening things up a little more McNabb's senior year (passed a bit more junior year too). You know what's hilarious that shouldn't be?
Shrader, last season when he didn't play the full game for a bit and in a season where we were awful passing the ball, had more completions than McNabb's sophomore season and almost as many as his freshman season.
I mean, I know it was a different era (kinda, other people were throwing the ball a lot more), but the idea of having an elite QB like McNabb and throwing so little is just comical.
