Has JB said why no Carter-Williams?

when other options failed? I don't understand at all.

MCW was supposed to make sure Fab was in class. ;)

In all honestly, :noidea:. We could have put the walk-ons in as well and see how they fared. I bet Reese would have torn them up.

...At least Boeheim had the balls to stay out there with his team/starters (at least some starters). Screw you Roy Williams.

Forget to 20-0 shirts. We need "Boeheim is braver than Roy Williams" tees.

Or maybe "Boeheim Coaching > Roy Williams Coaching".

Is it a coincidence that UNC had a starting go down with an ACL injury after trying to make sure his players didn't get inured at FSU? ;)

we were behind essesntially by double figures all game, in your mind the 4th best guard was the answer?

Scoop was ineffective, Brandon and Dion were inconsistent...so why not give MCW a look to see if he's on his game?

christmas and keita were ineffective, why not play tomaczewski?

Couldn't be worse than Triche forcing his shot all day.

you mean the guy who shot better than the other guards even if it was only 2-6? you didn't notice the 0-5 and 4-14?

This wasn't a mistake free kind of game where you sit MCW. We could have used his size, floater in the lane big time, length long arms on defense, hunger to play more and pressing abilities maybe.

I don't know if the problem was passion today, but alittle passion from MCW couldn't have hurt out there.

EIther Matt Park or Matt Roe actually said "we might see Tomaszewski" at one time. They were probably joking, but one of them did say it

Hey orangehomer-I never said MCW was the answer but why didn't JB see if he could be a spark.

I've what JB coach his whole career and, not to date myself too bad, watched him play with Dave Bing when I was a student.

Normally JB sticks with a 7 man rotation. He is a great coach. This year he has had the luxury of going to 10. I wondered how he'd handle that and he's done a great job.

My question was simple-did he explain why a solid player played zero minutes-when WE WERE DOWN BY DOUBLE DIGITS-(as you say). Don't you think it would be ok to try something different???? If it doesn't work -fine-go bad to what got you in the double digit deficit in the first place.

Ya get it.

I agree. Don't get it. Maybe he had a bad week of practice but ND's vaunted perimeter D seemed like it would be tailor-made for MCW to exploit and get some minutes.

because MCW couldn't body up against Cooley or take away Tim Higgins' whistle.

I never understand the logic of those who're unwilling to try something different, to shake things up, & maybe get a positive result.

Why not put MCW in? What earthly difference would it have made other than a possible positive one?

Its like the coach in football who's down 2 TD's, yet insists on running the ball 60x hoping the back will eventually "pop one". Ridiculous.

mcw should have played. just a bad night for jb.he was off his game

Agree. I think it's a generational thing, we all know how very stubborn JB can be.

Not to get into a zone vs. mtm debate, but why not change that up too? It was so ineffective and lax last night allowing ND to orchestrate their game plan and strategy to a T, dictating tempo and all. Not to mention that we allowed a team that was struggling immensely with their outside shooting just destroy us. Even letting a guy who was something like 2 of 25 from 3 point range hit two big threes going 2 for 2. With ND's guys so non-athletic and struggling to hit shots all year (likely because they can't create/get so many open looks in a solid mtm defense, etc.) it was just frustrating to watch. Even towards the end, when SU was making things a bit interesting, Doris Burke, commented how SU's defense at least now appeared to be interested. Phelps also commented during College Game Day he was rather miffed that JB just stayed in the zone (since it obviously wasn't working) allowing ND to do everything they wanted to. :noidea:

Personally, I would have liked to have seen MCW feature more over the last few games, but if you dont already know the answer to this question, you must have just started watching SU b-ball about five games ago.

Remember when JB said he wishes MCW was hungry to play more. Maybe JB isn't going to play him when the pressure is on this team to MCW shows he wants to play.

ND is never known for athleticism it perplexes me why we didn't go with Dion and MCW.
The coaches know all the little details that we don't though.

One guard was forcing shots, and his name was not Triche.

Triche shot better than Dion and Scoop tonight. He also took care of the ball better. Dion had 3 To's, Scoop had 2, Triche had zero. Southerland was the only player that had a good offensive game against ND.

I honestly cannot figure out why he keeps pulling Triche so much for Scoop (even though Scoop has played well the last couple of weeks). I do agree with OP that MCW should be given a look, especially when the lead guards are struggling so much. But that is just not the way coaches are geared to think...they go down with their leaders...

I have been wondering the same thing about Scoop playing over Triche. I have to think it is a chemistry issue with Dion and Brandon. IMO...Dion and Triche playing 30 minutes a game gives us our best chance at winning. Dion and Triche are the only two players capable of taking over a game on the offensive end. Give me a little Scoop and MCW to keep DW and BT fresh.
