The blueprint should be the NHL winter classic. Detroit red wings home game that is moved to a fb stadium with the rink placed in the middle.

There is no way those fans can see the puck way up top. They're there to drink and be part of an event. Turn on the game and see for yourself.

Can't say that excites me as a fan of the game.

Of course this event is planned a year in advance and season ticket holders are well aware of the deal - which of course was the rub with our situation.

So, you're saying play the Duke game at Coyne? ;)

Too funny jake.. one of my close buddies I graduated from su with texted me from that game saying based on how the setup is we should never move the court to the middle. His exact words. I am in agreement completely. 35k is massive enough and has some not so great seating itself.

Would never work. Look how far you'd be from the court:

Can you put a regulation court in 94 feet long 50 feet wide? The one you have is like 60 feet long. I also think they'd have bleachers at the ends and not extend the crowd all the way to the end zones. I don't think it be that bad of a view it would just suck for some season ticket holders.

Friggin ridiculous. You want to stop play every 4 minutes to shovel snow off the court?
It will give us an advantage over Duke. Our guys are use to the snow. Those North Carolina pansies barely get an inch if snow per year.

A football field is 53 1/3 yards wide - a regulation court is going to be 31 1/3 yards long. He's got it scaled correctly.

The view would suck, badly, and for almost everyone that came. Jake is right, people would be there for the "event", because the sight lines for the game would be terrible. I went to the Final Four in Indy a few years ago and watched the game on the Jumbotron because I could barely see the court.

The hockey games at Yankee Stadium this year weren't part of the season ticket plans for the Devils, Islanders, or Rangers - season ticket holders had first shot at them but weren't obligated to buy. If Syracuse ends up doing this at some point in the future I hope they give season ticket holders the same consideration...I don't care who we're playing, I would pass on those tickets and watch on TV. We don't have Jumbotrons the size of the ones at Lucas Oil Stadium, so I think it would be a huge waste of money to go if you arent interested in just being there and actually want to watch the game.

the court in that picture is only 25 yds long.

6 yards isn't going to make that big a difference. Especially considering it will be only an additional 3 yards on each side if you want the court centered.

The photo is not perfect by any means. The problem is no completely aerial shot of the football field exists since the roof gets in the way.

right now we have people sitting 100 yds away from the court for the duke game.. no matter what you do with the court at center there will not be worse seats than what the last 5K get now.. you would end up with 20K gettin better than the worse 5K get now . the issue is the 5-10K get far better seats than the last 20K get now and dont want to give that up..

105K tried to watch a hockey game today with no chance to see the puck. every seat for the bball game would be better than the seats for that hockey game.. the upper deck dome seats are better than the 1st row seats for hockey

The dome already does summer camp with courts at mid field.. pretty easy to get someone to see how that would look if they every wanted to do it for a real game. i dont recall people complaining about seeing fball games when they are lined up at mid field and its much easier to watch bball with 10 guys than fball with 22..

Again, it's generally best to take care of your best customers. Getting 15,000 extra people in the doors by taking your 20,000 best customers and moving them from good seats to terrible ones only seems like a brilliant idea to anyone outside of that 20,000. And hopefully to Syracuse University leadership as well - unless they are willing to allow season ticket holders to opt out, wouldn't be thrilled but could live with that solution provided this was a one-off and we didn't have a midfield basketball game every year.

As someone that has watched both a basketball game and a football game at Lucas Oil Stadium, I call bullsh!t on the idea that its easier to watch a hoops game that a football game. From approximately the same seating I could watch the football game with no problem...had to watch the basketball game on the Jumbotron. The ball moves around way, way, way more in basketball which makes it much harder to follow from a distance.

if you sit in the same seat in the dome and lucas you are probably 30-40 yds further away by the design of the stadium. show me what seats are going to be worse, you are over thinking what the view is going to be.

people sit in the top side line seats of the dome now and sit out to the 50 and watch the games in the dome now. how would a game at midfield change that except to make the field closer for many?
this is all about making a special event game? thats all these hockey games are.

if this is to happen then go ahead and let the people with the best seats now opt out. we got 35K for duke and other big games. its not the same 35K every time.. many would jump at the chance to be at this game.

They should hang a transparent court from the ceiling and put beds underneath so people could lie on their backs and watch the action...record-setting crowd and a few thousand get to stay overnight.

So paraphrasing JB you want to give 15,000 donors worse seats so that 7,000 non-donors can benefit?
