Frontline - KJ, Dirty, CJ

Backcourt -Dion, BT, Scoop (pick 2 of three)

Yeah, it's small. But this is college basketball. You play your 5 best players, not the 5 tallest, and you go with their strengths.

Yeah, it's small. But it's quick, and it shoots from the outside really well. And they box out and hustle for rebounds (they have to!). And they run and run and run.

IMO our best chance (and this wil NEVER happen) is to go ahead and play a man D, with a mixture of press. This with the following lineup:

C Rak 24 mins, Keita 16 mins
PF KJo 28 mins, Southerland 12 mins
SF Fair 28 mins, Triche 12 mins
SG Triche 12 mins, Waiters 28 mins
PG Scoop 28 Mins, MCW 12 mins

I really think this team would be better off playing man. Fab is huge to our Zone. So without him, don't go just Zone. Start off in a Zone and if the other team has no clue how to attack it then play it the whole game. But if the other team is doing well, have no fear going to man and going small.

lol

Yes lets play m2m in the NCAAT after playing zone all season!!! That would be an epic coaching over reaction panic mode choke move IMO.

Changing things up a bit defensively, pressing more, trying to run more would be fine but no one ever says a m2m team should switch to zone for the NCAAT becaue they lost a player.

For me I think we may see up to 5min a game with the 3 forward line up but for the most part we will have Rak and Baye playing at the 5 and ridding who ever is playing well for as long as possible each game.

Awesome. Hopefully JB is reading the board tonight. Don't be surprised if he calls you with a job offer.

You guys do realize we play man in practice? It isn't like they have no clue how to play it. The Zone without Melo isn't very good. So why go exclusively Zone? That would just be a stubborn thing to do and makes zero sense. Get your best 5 players on the court as much as possible. We will need to outscore teams.

Wasn't the M2M; it was the fact you thought Triche would see time at SF, he's 6'4".

Not in the Zone but man to man. Few teams have SFs much taller. In fact Triche did play some SF in the Zone the last 2 mins against Cincy. Why can't we go with a 3 G lineup for 10 mins a game? Why not get our best players on the court? I rather see more mins for Triche, Scoop, and Dion vs 20 mins from Southerland. He is our worst non C. So why give him so much PT?

No, a lot of teams have SF's taller than 6'4", in fact, I'd be willing to wager that every BCS school in this tournament have a SF bigger than 6'4". Triche played SF vs. Cincy when we were down by 10 with 1:30 left, talk about desperation mode. Southerland deserves those minutes because he's the best 3PT shooter on the team and would be about 10000x better than Triche would be at the bottom of the zone.

His stats beg to differ. 31% is worse than Paul Harris. He might look pretty shooting the ball but they don't go in. Everyone else is at or above 35%. He is our 7th best player.

You're argument that Paul Harris is better from deep than Southerland won't go far here. You still didn't answer about Triche...

Again most college SFs are 6'6 and have no post up game. So why can't a physical guard that is 6'4 play man D? This is silly.

BTW Andy played plenty of SF for us in 08 and 09 and isn't nearly as physical or athletic as Triche. Andy is 6'4. Also Harris was only 6'4 and played PF for us.
