We are going on year 9 of not being a top 25 team. Virginia went 21-14 and to the NIT last year. They are now a top 10 team the next year. We are taking so long to rebuild. It’s a question for Coach Boeheim. College basketball doesn’t seem like it should take that long to rebuild.

I think there is a massive discrepancy between how much JB is respected vs alum perception.

That, and the difference in effort will buy you a more rapid improvement.

The fact that these questions still need to be asked by some people is mind boggling.

Ask yourself what’s been the one constant over the last 9 years

If your having to ask, your not paying attention

3 tournament runs cover up the fact we've been awful since the Ennis year. This should be it JB after his kids have graduated isn't going to go well.

Its OK this is the first year where we shouldn't have expectations. I mean last year everyone questioned the roster moves but we were coming off a Sweet 16 you had to expect to be OK. Make the right hire in a few months and we'll be good quickly.

Younger more relatable coach who isn't asked every hour when he’s going to retire. Also plays a style that masks a lot of issues and magnifies his coaching strengths (defense) while limiting his short comings (offensive sets). JB did have that going for him but not anymore.

I would never presume to comment on Coach Boeheim's coaching, but, realistically, last year was the rebuilding year at Virginia. Not this year. After the 2021 season, there was a massive exodus from UVa. Graduations and premature attrition, coupled with the fact that the covid years had really disrupted Coach Bennett's recruiting routines, left Virginia with a roster of just ten scholarship players. Once the season began, the rotation was limited to seven. Furthermore, only two, Kihei Clark and Reece Beekman, had any real playing experience in Coach Bennett's schemes. And that inexperience showed in early season losses to Navy, JMU, and Clemson. The fact that the team improved throughout the season and finished 21-14 (winning in Durham and sweeping Miami) might suggest that it was Coach Bennett's best coaching job of his career. This year, the top six players return, and an outstanding recruiting class is providing playable depth. Continuity has returned to the program, and that is probably the single most significant element in Virginia's improvement this year. And, if there is a major difference between Virginia and Syracuse this year, I think continuity would define it.

So we are in the acceptance stage for the fanbase? Has he been asked why we can’t get back to top 25 status. I look teams like Tennessee, Virginia, that find ways to be good after one down year.

An important stat about those top 6 returning players (including the entire starting 5) - they represent over 90% of our scoring from last year. I recently saw an item which revealed that a flaw in Franklin's shot mechanics was found and corrected at the end of last season. His shooting accuracy improved at the end of last year and he is maintaining that high level. Gardner and Franklin both seem more attuned to the switches, etc., of the defense.

It's a question for the AD. The AD brought in a consultant named Fletch. He said our issue is with the ball bearings.
