I took a look at what our opponents did on average vs D1 teams not named SU and compared it to how we did in each game. Needless to say we did very well.

On O for SU

Our opponents gave up 370.1 ypg, 145.1 rypg, and 225 pypg
We averaged in those games 466.5 ypg, 168 rypg, and 298.5 pypg

In 8 of 11 games we gained over 10% more yards than what the team we played gave up on average. Only one of those games were we 10% less than the team's average, and two games we were within +/- 10%.

However for rushing those numbers were 5 games above, 4 below, and 2 within. The interesting thing here is that we started off 0-3-2 and finished 5-1-0. The rushing game was poor the first half and strong the second half of the season.

Passing we were 9-2 vs our opponents averages. As you can see above our pass O was awesome compared to the avg our opponents gave up.

On D for SU

Our opponents gained 368.8 ypg, 151.1 rypg, and 217.7 pypg
We gave up 391.8 ypg, 141.9 rypg, and 249.9 pypg

In 3 of 11 games we gave up 10% less than what a team we played averaged. In 5 we gave up more than 10%, while in three games we were within +/- 10%. Overall our D was pretty bad this year.

Rushing D was surprisingly good going 7-3-1, while our pass D was poor at 4-7-0. As you can see above, our rush D was slightly better than the avg. The pass D was significantly worse.

By game

NW
Our O destroyed them getting more than 50% more than NW's avg. Rushing we did slightly worse but passing we nearly had 2x as many yards as the NW avg.
Our D held NW well under their avg. The run D nearly held NW to half its normal output, which is amazing. However the pass D did give up over 25% more, which is disappointing.
Taking these all together we really should have won.

USC
Our O did better than average, with the run game doing worse and the pass game doing significantly better (nearly 40%).
Our D gave up right about average. However the run we did over 75% worse, while holding USC to 60% of their normal passing output.
This game really should have been closer.

Minn
The O did slightly worse overall. The rushing O did very poorly gaining less than 65% of the average, but the passing game did get over 30% more.
The D overall gave up more than 10% above. Rushing was good giving up about 75% but the pass gave up nearly 40% more.
Even without all the TOs we really deserved to lose this game.

Pitt
The O did worse being right near 90% in total, rushing, and passing.
The D was also right at 90%. However rushing we held them to less than 20% of their avg total. Passing Pitt had 30% more.
When you take into account that most of our production came in our first drive, this is a game we were lucky to squeak out.

RU
Our O gained over 25% more. However rushing was quite bad gaining only 55%. Passing was nearly 65% above the avg.
The D allowed nearly 2/3 the normal RU total, rushing, and passing numbers.
Statistically we probably deserved to win. Although we were forced to pass a lot to catch up which skewed our numbers.

UConn
The O was over 70% better. Rushing was nearly 3x better and passing 20% better.
On D we held them to 90%. Passing they did do 30% better but rushing they had -6 yards, over 100 less than their avg.
It was easy to tell why the game was a blow out.

USF
The O was nearly 25% better across the board.
The D however gave up over 50% more. The pass only gave up 85% but that was due to the rush D giving up well over 2.5x more.
This was probably a game we should have lost.

Cincy
The O gained more than 25% above. Rushing was over 40% more, and pass 15% more.
The D gave up more then 10% above. Pass gave up only 90%. However the rush D was over 40% more.
Both teams ran the ball well but we passed it better and really should have won.

Louisville
The O gained over 50% more, over 70% rushing and over 25% passing.
The D gave up over 10% more. However the run D allowed only 35%. The pass D was 50% more but due to UL being well behind.
Another game where you can see why it was a blowout.

Mizzou
The O was 25% more but rushing was about 75% of the avg. Passing was up nearly 65% largely due to being behind.
The D gave up nearly 45% more. The rush D was just under 95% which is good but the pass D was awful, more than 75% above.
This game we really deserved to lose. It is amazing that we continued to force the run for so long when it clearly wasn't working.

Temple
The O did just above average. The pass O was just over 85% but the rush O was over 35% more.
The D did just worse than average. The rush D was just over 85% but the pass D was over 40% more.
This game was really closer than it appeared.
