I know with a new offensive coach/system

Does GS call the plays? Seriously. Tucker is always open and for some reason, we just stopped throwing to Gadson.

Does GS call the plays…..? Yeah, when it’s a passing play and his down the field WR’s aren’t open and he routinely doesn’t throw to his wide open check down. Who happens to be Tucker. Then yeah, he calls the play.

So, he is the secondary guy. Got it. Look, I want to see more swing passes to Tucker. But as a first option. I think we are getting much better qb ing than we thought we would get 5 weeks ago. I don't think people should lose sight of that.

I really don't understand how often Shrader doesn't even consider the swing pass to Tucker.

It's supposed to be an easy, no brainer play.

Emmett Smith made his HOF career catching swing passes like that.

Not going to Tucker is just dumb.

If I remember right he did throw that pass our first game. And then hasn’t barely at all since. It’s almost as if he’s refusing to even consider it b/c you can’t just miss him wide open that many times. At times it looks like he sees him and decides something else, like tuck and run for no gain.

I’m in no way calling for him to be the first option. Many many plays, when things break down he has a chance to get the ball to Tucker and instead he’s taking a sack, throwing into coverage or keeping it and usually not for a positive run.

I am. On many plays. Let's set passes up to Tucker. Having said that, I will say again, the qb ing has been a lot better than we thought it would be if we are fair.

I don’t disagree with this at all.

To be fair, it’s WAY better than last year’s offense.
The last 2 games… idk…. seems like our best offense is the other team gifting us penalties.

You would think that would be the release or check down when nobody else is open?

I have a feeling UVA was used to seeing this same offense in practice and helped shut it down. Nothing seemed open in the passing game, running game, or even Shrader scrambling

I don’t think it was completely shut down or even shut down at all. There were at least 5+ times GS could have checked down to Tucker and chose not to and the resulting play was not positive.

Yeah Garrett missed a few opportunities last night to Tucker but Tucker is 2nd in receptions on the team so not sure what is being said is an actual issue? My concern is more around Gadsden continually being rotated off the field. After his last game and first half last night, Gadsden needs to be out there 90 percent of the plays. His height, route running and hands are an advantage.

You never know how the mind works. You can rep it over and over again in practice. Doesnt mean they will do it in the game with live bullets. lol

It's just so weird because you'd think in the play design it would be an early read, if for no other reason than to look off the defense to that side and stretch the field.
