White guilt is probably more accurate.
Not quite Carolina blue but close enough:
Burn them damn Confederate flags--ASAP!
South Burlington And Northerns. Solved.
You have to be a railroad buff to get it.
I am. Nicely done.
Goes to my deep seated beliefs that all Vermont people are weirdos.
I had it worse. My high school was royal (duke) blue and called the blue devils. Since duke is more evil than unc, sharing their name and color has to be worse.
worked for a difft shark out in vegas
Master of my domain jokes will ensue and the Seinfeld fans will protest.
hows that not biggoted against the lizzard race that controls the Trilateral commission?
South Burlington Yankees
Wrong town. Teddy bear factory is in Charlotte. Which is not pronounced like the city in North Carolina.
So, this story has taken an unfortunate turn. The last three days have seen lockdowns at the school due to threats of violence. The district as a whole will be closed tomorrow due to the threats, including the emailed "kill list" received today.
The emails indicate the decision to change the name is the motivation for the threats.
To confirm, does this mean that everyone who responded with their take on this issue is officially a Social Justice Warrior for all board eternity?
I'm offended by the implication that I'm somehow offended or offensive. Or both.
Well, considering Vermonts substantial involvement with the Confederacy and sedition of the Southern States, I think its a valid concern. Had Vermont not seceded from the Union the war would've ended in '61 and the Germans never would've bombed pearl harbor.
Threats of violence from the students, or from within the community?
Unknown perp at this point. Kids hid in closets for a big portion of the day.
Person is hacking an email and sending threats directly to the teachers.
Another lockdown at South Burlington High School
Not sure where it's coming from, but the initiative to change the name came from some of the students on the hit list.
The text of the email is in this story.
South Burlington students, teachers on hit list
We're such an aggrieved, intolerant society anymore. Death threats of the naming of the school mascot? Really? It's everywhere. As soon as something moves in a direction we don't like, there's a knee-jerk, massive over-the-top reaction. It's either "I'm gonna sue your ass off!" or I'm getting out my guns!" Everything goes immediately to white heat, and the media fans the flames. It's not unlike the police anymore, either. As soon as you're seen to disagree with an officer, a SWAT team descends like the Ride of the Valkyries. Nobody wants to talk reasonably and solve a problem, everyone wants to yell the loudest/show the most force, and be validated by being proclaimed the victor for all to see.
