I know I'm old when there are people on here who don't know what a Thornton Mellon Triple Lindy is and who have never heard of PanAm Flight 103 (and are from Syracuse. see thread below).

I'm actually a little stunned by the Lockerbie thing, considering, at the very least, how prominent the monument is, along with the recent death of Megrahi and even more recently Gaddafi.

Just an educated guess, but if you were to ask the Flea Party protesters what World War II was, or who fought in it, the percentage of correct responses would be low.

The Pan Am 103 post shocked me a little. How could that not have come up?

One of my favorite lines from a generation ago was by former Pitt coach Roy Chipman. When asked about Demetreus Gore's shot selection, Roy replied "he has to realize that you don't get extra points for degree of difficulty".
