after we spank asheville 85-50. i dont wanna see a ho hum 71-60 win. we need to come out pissed off and take it out on the court.

I will take any win at this point as long as we advance thats all I care about.

I agree. This team, much like many Cuse teams of the past, rarely plays angry or with fierce energy and emotion. They will need an "us against the world" attitude to reach their potential in this tournament.

survive and advance.

after thursday yes. i think just for the players mindset going forward they need to dominate on thursday. playing a lethargic game even if they win isnt gonna give them much confidence that they can make a deep run w/o fab. they need to prove to themselves as much as anyone that theyre still 1 of the best teams.

I think we went from being the 2nd best team in our region to the 4th best team in the region. This team has shown all year to be a tough team. We have dealt with a lot off the court and been able to will our way to victory in many close games. Losing Fab sux and takes away a legit shot at a title. But I still think we can make a Final Four run if we play well on O. I didn't think we would beat Ohio St with Fab. So we will have to hope they don't make the Elite 8. FSU I could see struggling on O vs the Zone. So I think we can outscore them and beat them even without Melo. Vandy will be difficult. But even with Fab, that matchup was always about how well Vandy shot from 3. That doesn't change without Melo. And that is assuming that Vandy even makes the Sweet 16. I still expect this team to make an Elite 8. And if we are lucky Final Four.

we were the best team in the east with melo, 2nd best now without. you really think fsu and vandy are better than us now? I dont.

I wonder if this will suck the wind from them. When Fab was gone before they knew he was coming back. They know he won't be coming back now. Will be interesting to see how they respond. This one's very different from every other crises this year- it directly affects their overall goal.

ok so have thought bout this whole thing for a while. fab was a major presence in the post on d.. that presence waned as the season got deeper as did his effectiveness in the pick n roll or setting good screens. if rak can rebound.. move his feet and finish his bunnies.. we arent losing as much as we think. anyway you look at it we need kjo scoop to be leaders and dion to go beast mode. bring it on.. watch us play the best we have since december.

I'd like to agree with you and hope this latest set-back will be the ultimate motivator for the rest of the team. However, the loss of Fab is a crushing blow. He steadily played more and more minutes as the season went on and the D became dependent upon his presence in the middle. Yes, his effectiveness slipped a little but that's just because his reputation grew and teams looked for ways to avoid him. Nevertheless, he altered a tremendous number of shots even if his block numbers declined a little and he was guilty of too many goaltends. Also, he took a phenomenal number of charges and that's something I doubt we will get from Rak. Lastly, Fab learned how to avoid foul trouble where as Christmas has been expectedly foul prone in his limited play. I would expect to see just as much of Keita as of Rak from this point. The smartest thing JB could do is mix it up with a good dose of full court press and (I know I'll hear some crap for such blasphemy) even a little man to man to keep opposing offenses from teeing-off against our now weakened zone.

We have Dion Waiters. everyone else. This is kid is gonna carry us to New Orleans, Fab Melo or not.
