or will they be voted #1 if circumstances break right?
I know its early to assume that they'll go undefeated and they do have to get through that scheduling gauntlet at the end of the season ...
@ SE Missouri State
@ Tennessee State
@ Tennessee Tech
all in a period of 10 days, but if miracle of miracles occurs would the voters raise them to #1.
Obviously some teams in front of them need to lose between now and the end of the year and Murray State probably needs to be either one or two spots behind them when they lose to pass them (e.g. if SU loses its only game of the year tonight, I don't see SU dropping 10 spots or Murray State leap frogging past us no matter how bad the loss.) But, its not unreasonable to think that everyone in front of them has at least one or two losses on their schedule between now and the end and SU's most dangerous stretch is right at the end of the season - so I could see them continuing to make steady progress up the rankings and possibly having us get our loss with them right behind us in the poll if voters continued to elevate them past teams in front of them that lose. I am actually a bit surprised, looking at their schedule, that they've been elevated as high as 10 & 12 in the polls.
Would voters elevate Murray State or keep them at 4 or 5 and allow others to leapfrog back over them to replace teams ahead of them that might lose??
